RE: Week 12 - Great Britain F5 ($15,000) - Shrewsbury (hard)

Agree with RJA - it's all there for Luke, just not quite clicking into place yet. I do hope he hangs in there because he's pretty young - I'm convinced he could have a sudden jump up in the rankings very easily.

Joe has the first set re Gabb

adam TB serving for the set re O'Mara

Neil doing the same re Halys (allez Neil!)

On serve with Tom and Chadaj

Tom has just lost the first set 6-4 and looks like he was broken twice on the bounce as Tom broke in the first game.

Good win for Joe over Richard Gabb.

Tom was a break down in the second but has just broken back.

Rob Carter has started well against the top 20 junior German 18 year-old.

4-4 in Neil v French top junior youngster (hope he can do this in 2 . . . fingers crossed)

Adam served for the first set but Jonny won it 7-5 and leads 3-1

Unfortunately I was pretty sure that neil has to win it in two, and having got squeezed out of the second set 4-6, is now 0-5 down in the third.

Tom did well though to fight trhough the second and take the tie-break and is an early break up in the third.

Jonny closed it out, 6-2 in the second (his first point for a while?)

Rob took the first set 6-1

Nice to see Jonny back and winning and Rob Carter showing some sort of form.

Bambo has started well 4-1 up

Tom served for the match and got broken. Now time to receive for the match.

Rob is 2-4 down in the second. Couldn't expect the young German not to put up a fight, I guess . .

JWH just started and on serve 2-1*

Luke 5-2* up (but early days . . . he seems to have a habit of playing well, looking like winning and then ending up on the wrong end so here's hoping . . .)

Well done, Tom - always easier to receive for it than serve for it

Luke managed to get the first set 7-6(5)

Rob just had break point in the third but 1-1

Moraing serving for the first set at 5*-4 v JWH

The Czech top seed, Jan Mertl (WR 226, though he rose as high as N° 163 in July 2007...), has crashed out to Neuchrist by 3 & 4, so

L16:  Maximilian Neuchrist (AUT) WR 521 (CH = 310 in August 2013) vs Joe Salisbury WR 806

Rob had his chances at the beginning of the third but ends up losing the set 2-6.

Peliwo has, needless to say, rebounded in the second, leading Bambo 5-0

Andy B is a break up v Scott.

JWH on serve in the second (but hasn't had a single break point - that lad has to work more on his return game and base-line game and less on his serve - he's always had an excellent serve but you only need to miss one or two and, into the rally, you're broken . . . )

Luke gets the break 3-1* in the third.

C'mon, boy, it'd be so nice for him to get at least ONE good victory after having been so close these past few months.

Andy B seems in control v Scott, leading 6-3 3-0

JWH has earned himself the chance of a TB, if nothing else, leading 6-5*, but still no look ins on the other guy's serve.

well, the TB was short and sweet (or not). Mats definitely seemed to deserve that match, beating JWH 6-4 7-6(1)

That's cheered me up !!! After disappointment for Neil, and Rob, and ( to a lesser extent i.e. it wasn't as close as the others) JWH, Luke comes through and wins the third

(NB good call, paulisi - could you call him to win the next one please?)

Bambo's got the upset, credit to Paulisi for calling it.

If Bambo can keep revving up the fearhand, and use it for sustained periods, he can/will make a big surge up the rankings.
