RE: Coaching by Mauresmo

A thoughtful interview with Andy which appeared in The Red Bulletin, given away with ES Magazine this week.  Shame about the American spelling. furious

Yes, thank you for that link.  I found the comments re Jez Green and Dani V particularly interesting.

Looks like Amélie is due to return to work with Andy:

I think Andy has put in a nice body of work this year predominantly under the tuteledge of Amelie.

Never my idea of a match made in heaven maybe the signs were there in the USA 100'S as she sat away from the coaching team. . Andy needs a Lendl mark 2

Ah, was a very interesting teaming up with the jury probably out on it being a particular success. All the best to Amelie.

I saw the camera pan to Jamie Delgado yesterday. Has he been working with Andy ?

I've been speaking to a number of people recently who suggest like you scottie1 that he needs a lendl mark.2 someone he deeply respects and wouldn't dare shout at in the stands. There can't be too many candidates out there, but in a game of such small margins, I think it's worth trying to find them, even for the positive mental aspect it has versus the other top players. I.e. Knowing Novak has Boris in his corner, backing and advising him personally and to the media - the other players must be aware of it.

I thought Mauresmo did fine in the coaching corner - when she was full time.  Trying to coach around the early stages of motherhood must mean she is able to give less than Andy needs.  I wondered if the announcement was coming, she has hardly been court side this year and body language in the box suggests Jamie Delgado has been in charge.

As for Lendl, he is working for the USTA as part of their Team USA initiative.  I think he is focussing on the transitioning pros - the Taylor Fritz, Michael Mmoh players.

!00% agree, Andy really needs someone of huge legend status, as I think it gives him a massive psychological bonus.

I'm thinking, Lendl, Agassi, Sampras, Wilander, Borg, Mcenroe et al.

Not offence, but Delgado might as well be Brad Gilbert.
