Andy looks absolutely toast physically, if he does make the WTF's and I sincerely hope he does, he's likely to be running on fumes at that stage.
I doubt he'll be the only one in that situation though. There will be a few others struggling as well.
So as they are all suffering so much why do they sign up for the international premier tennis league rather than having some well deserved time off? Its not as if they need the extra money.......

Totally agree. As I have said on here before, I find the whole concept of the Premier league farcical.
If he was going to lose, I'd have much rather Berdych had lost in the QF ( no net points gain ) or even played four matches and lost in the SF ( just 30 points net gain ).
I suggested earlier that Berdych would perhaps still need some more points to make sure of a WTF place, and that clearly remains the case. But at least he will now be rested for Paris where every win will add points, potentially big points.
What we could certainly do without, considering comments about running on empty, is Andy going out in the QF ( three matches played and no points gain ). If so it will look like there was much to be said for missing Valencia. Then again, if he has a very good week....
If he wins this week he will be up to 5th in the race, and considering stans form and drop off of points in Australia... Wouldn't actually be too far from top 4 some how
This has now turned into a very important week. Fail to make the semi-finals, and he could well drop to 10th having played three matches and got no gain for it, leaving him possibly knackered for Paris.
Win the whole thing and he goes up to 5th, riding high on confidence with a lot less at stake in Paris.
Fognini, Anderson, Ferrer and whoever comes through the bottom half is no walk in the park though. I'm not really convinced he's playing consistently enough to beat those three. Half-expecting a defeat, to be totally honest.
Anywho, here's a not-so-simplified look at the race, with probably routes and the points they'll be on for beating each respective opponent:
As it stands (points in brackets is how many they will have if they beat respective opponent):
Fognini is on a horrible run of form, really, losing 6 in a row until this tournament against people as low as WR 74, 89 and 553. Anderson isn't in any great form and has actually failed to get past the R16 since Toronto. Not that these don't have the potential to be very difficult matches, but considering that Andy has won 2 titles in a month leads me to expect that he should beat these excluding some fantastic performances. Ferrer is as much of a lottery call as ever and it is looking like the bottom half will have no seeds come the QF's. If Andy can beat the first two opponents in straights then hopefully he will have enough to take on Ferrer and beat him, thus leaving him with an unseeded final opponent. I think Andy is in a great position, but as ever, actions speak louder than words.
Murray gets a bit of a break, by the sounds of it. With Rafa and Cilic out, Andy should be seeded 8th or above depending on other withdrawals, in Paris.
I think Rafa pretty much is out, needing to have the appendicitis op. If Andy can beat Ferrer tomorrow, it's looking very good. He also will be seeded in the top 8 in Paris, so futher good news.
Looking at the Paris draw, I think that Murray is looking good. Ferrer has a nightmare draw and both Raonic and Dimitrov have similarly been given draws that, unless they can somehow overcome, will end their journeys to the WTF. Murray has Djokovic in the QFs, but so does Dimitrov whereas Raonic has Federer. Nobody fighting for a spot has been given an easy draw.
