RE: Week 38 - ITF ($25K) - Shrewsbury, UK Hard(indoor)

If I was the LTA I'd probably chuck £25's for the moment and run a bunch of £15k's and a couple of higher grade challengers.

Fran loses 57 63 62. Lost a very long game at *2-3 and that was the end of the challenge sadly. Really good effort, one of the most impressive since her comeback but she really had it for the taking.

I don't understand why they've changed it. I've enjoyed it over the years, I've gone to watch Hev, and support Jade and Anna. Saw Tara and Joko there too, and it was nice.

The calibre of players we have now mean it's not right to have a 75k. We used to have 4/5 players who were top 150 and looking to break top 100 we don; have that right now. 25k's is what our younger players need

Not sure what happened to Naomi - she lost the last 11 games

L32: (WC) Naomi Cavaday WR 1123 lost to (2) Vesna Dolonc (SRB) WR 152 (CH 84 in 2013) by 4 & 0

Harriet was a break down in the 3rd but is now back on serve, 4-3* up

I am afaid that I suspect all that happened in the Naomi match is that a generally currently far superior player just outplayed her. It may have had more to do with Dolonc than Naomi.

I see the first set score as pretty encouraging, the second set as a disappointment after that, but not a hugely unexpected one.

Good luck to Naomi, but she clearly still has a very long way to go to begin to get close to her previous levels, if that is the aim.
