RE: Week 35 - US Open

Well I'm going to stick my neck out here and predict that Andy will make the final before losing to Fed. Got to think positive.

My prediction is that Andy beats Benneteau in R4 before losing to either Nole in the Q or Wawrinka in the S.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if he makes R4 the way his year's gone (probably following an impressive and encouraging R2).

Andy's is the second match - after an 11 a.m. women's match - on Monday, in the Louis Armstrong stadium.

In spite of my reservations about Andy's potential draw, with in particular Stepanek and Tsonga even before the QF stage, I take Andy to reach the QFs.

He has a recent history of raising himself for Slams and has at least reached the QFs in the last 14 Slams that he has competed in. Yes, this will be the lowest he has been ranked in that time, with probably most questionable form, but I think that that record will be maintained.

5-2*. Andy's length is on and off and it may just be me but his movement looks a little cumbersome. It's mostly solid though, quite pleased.

I'm liking the aggressive backhands and the more frequent approaches to the net. Serve and forehand a little inconsistent though.

Has Andy ever looked at fixing his second serve?

Andy two sets up (6-3, 7-6(6)) and then capitulates to give Haase the set 1-6. Now into a fourth. Looks like Stepanek is going out but there is a lot of work to be done.

I'm never really comfortable commenting on the intensity or motivation of a player because there are so many factors and outlets for positivity, but it really feels like Murray isn't bothered.

He does look injured though so who knows?

Don't really see him being down 6-1, 2-0 in the last two sets against Haase unless there's something wrong somewhere ...

He's been hitting ridiculously slow first serves, is barely putting any power into his shots and is very ginger. Either he's knackered or he's injured.
