RE: Weeks 26-27 - Wimbledon men's main draw (Andy)

I was told tonight that today's "Sun on Sunday" reported that Andy will reluctantly "fire" Mauresmo because he won't risk the disintegration of his team.

But tough on Mauresmo, if it is true that the issues were rather less her, but the way Andy went about things.

Whatever. Ivan, Ivan, let's try and sort something out here !

He hasn't fired her if the article by OEM in today's Times is to be believed (subscription required).   The headline reads "Murray keeps faith with Mauresmo" & the first paragraph states that

Andy Murray has decided to extend his coaching relationship with Amélie Mauresmo beyond its grass-court experiment into the pursuit of hard-court riches and beyond.

She is certainly in Miami with him.

I wonder if Mauresmo is responsible for Andy's new social-friendly push. He's always been quite active but recently he's been getting involved a lot more with Facebook and Instagram and showing people what his training is like and what he's up to, including in a Facebook Q+A at 8:30 UK time. Perhaps he's trying to further change his prominent image as a straight-faced, boring Scot?

Hmm there was the 'softening up' mention on 5Live so I imagine an announcement is imminent.

Loved Mauresmo as a player, Bartoli gave her a big up as Fed Cup coach but not to my mind an obvious choice as coach.

But hey what do I know !

To be clear, my previous post was very much more a pro Lendl one ( certainly re his benefit to Andy ) than anything against Mauresmo. I just don't know enough about her, her methods or how she fits Andy.

His answers are still laced with loads of Scottish sarcasm though ;)

Like the one where somebody asked if he wanted to win another slam, and his answer was just "No."?

Indeed, it was pretty clear from the off that most of the responses would be extremely dry.
