Weeks 26-27 - Wimbledon men's main draw (Andy)

L128: (3) Andy Murray WR 5 v David Goffin (BEL) WR 104 (CH 42 in 2012)

Route

R1: Goffin

R2: Andujar / Rola

R3: (27) Bautista-Agut

R4: (16) Fognini / (20) Anderson

QF: (7) Ferrer

SF: (1) Djokovic

FI: (2) Nadal / (4) Federer

A pretty kind draw (lots of clay-courters!) until the SFs, though it'll be interesting to see who actually comes through to play him if those seeded to do so don't.

Not bad at all. Make use of it, Andy!

Decent draw. If I remember right, Andy has a few points to defend from this tournament last year. So come on Andy, no Brit has won the MS at Wimbledon for almost 12 months now.

I think the best factor of the draw is that Andy has been drawn with perhaps the easiest QF opponent besides Milos? I would not want Andy against Stan nor Berdych at the QFs considering how hit and miss his form could be. Of course, Ferrer is no joke on the grass but it's his weakest surface from what I can remember.

Edit: Upon looking at the draw, I have a feeling that Dimitrov could become Andy's QF opponent if he plays like he can, which would be a fairly different proposition.

It should certainly be an experience for Dan Smethurst.

While, I am certainly not one to be for just turning up and enjoying the experience, life could be worse.

Dan is having easily the best tennis year of his life. He has received main draw WCs here for both singles and doubles. He now gets an opportunity to play a big name, but one, relative to his status, with a pretty appalling return of serve record, so a real chance to get a foothold in the match. I most certainly do anticipate an Isner victory, but it could be worse ( eg. facing a less heralded player, ranked about 50 to 60, but with a very good all round game and simply too good for Dan ).

Disagree. Think Muzza will play Evo in the QF smile

And as if we didn't need even more proof that Andy is not only a champ but also a Really Good Egg :)

Andy's match is at 1pm. BBC 1 doesn't start until 1.45, so it will have to start on BBC2, I suppose. But I bet they move over to BBC1 as soon as they can. How to make life difficult for people trying to record. . .

L128: (3) Andy Murray WR 5 beat David Goffin (BEL) WR 105 (CH 42 in 2012) by 6-1 6-4 7-5

L64: (3) Andy Murray WR 5 v Blaz Rola (SLO) WR 92 (CH 91 earlier this month)

H2H 0-0 but Rola lost to Wardy at both RG Q and Queen's this year

Comfortable, thank heavens. Hopefully the next match against Rola won't be a Rola-coaster, either.

This is quite possibly the most straight-forward match Andy has ever played at Wimbledon. Leads 6-1, 6-1, 4-0.

Doesn't get much more routine than that.
