Uh-oh. Andy has had to have the trainer and then the Doctor for painkillers for his back.

Takes the first set 6-4

Some really good tennis from Andy.

And he takes it. Well done painkillers! Tsonga just folded in the second set once he went down the first break.

2nd serve was improved today, deeper into the box

Well yes, but it does help when you are playing an opponent with a pretty woeful return of serve.

All in all though a very good performance.

For the record:

L16:  (6) Andy Murray WR 6 defeated (11) Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA) WR 11 by 4 & 1

And next the real test:

QF:  (6) Andy Murray WR 6 vs (2) Novak Djokovic (SRB) WR 2

Head-to-head:  8-11, the most memorable encounter being last year's Wimbledon final...

Praise be to Yevon for the QF. Something inside me screams 'destruction'.

Won 15 of the last 16 points. Most impressive performance of 2014 by far (not that that's saying much).

Don't think he'll beat Novak but I think he'll at least be competitive.

I have no clue, but being areligious, I felt it was an interesting way to convey a sense of hope!

Very good.

Probably didn't exactly land in the best quarter, especially with Wawrinka and Ferrer going out. A QF against Dolgopolov or Nishikori would have looked rather good.

But hey he's playing well again and Djokovic doesn't exactly seem at his best so let's see....

Hope the back calms itself down since I presume that contest will take place tomorrow.

Hmm, it looks as if Gasquet also pretty much capitulated to Fed.

I imagine that the French Tennis forum must get rather agitated at times.
