I've never see Tom live, but he's always been one of my favourites, mainly because of his connection with French tennis and some brilliant quotes he makes about it - I particularly liked one about all the time he was spending and training at Aix, where his brother was coaching, and saying something along the lines of:
'Playing in France is great but brutal - I'd go back to the club, age 16, all happy coz I'd just got some great result in an important junior's match. And then some 'old guy, you know, over 30' - and there were tons of them- would get off the bench, pick up his racket and really kick my a***e'.
Made me smile. Too true. And a good reality check.
If he thinks (or thought) that over 30 was old, I'm in real trouble.
Tom breaks straight back for 2-2
Me too! That's partly why it made me smile - said with the innocence of youth (And probably one of the reasons the 'old' guys hanging out in the café liked to set the record straight and whip the little whippersnapper into shape!).
Schoorel just seems to have the knack of upping his game at crucial times. Tom F has just been broken to love at 4-4, so Schoorel is serving for the set.
I'm just hoping Tom F stays injury free and can get a run together. The talent is there to break into the top 250.
Schoorel leads 6-3, 3-0. What has happened to the Brits in Preston today? Building up a nice lead and then losing 6 games on the trot. First Naomi and now Tom.
I think livescores must simply have failed for the other semi, though the fact that the doubles final has started (unless it has been moved to a different court) suggests that maye it didn't go the distance - normally there'd still be something on livescores though even if it was decided by a withdrawal.
There are quite a few Dutch twitter accounts that do the same kind of thing we do and even a few minutes ago, they were still saying things like: "Schoorel berijkt de finale in preston, mogelijk tegenstander antal van der duim." i.e. "Schoorel reaches the final in Preston, his opponent might be Antal van der Duim" - they're hoping for an all-NED final but don't know yet.

Dave lost in in 2 sets (via Gosling Tennis twitter) "@GBtennis @daverice2k7 went down in two sets. High level. Back to the practice court and then off to Tipton"
It's all turned a bit orange in South Ribble
