RE: Week 10 - Great Britain F7 ($10,000) - Preston (Hard)

Thanks for that Paulisi. Toby will be very pleased with your comments.

I watched Marcora v Dan Evans a couple of weeks ago and he looked like an all or nothing player. But his backhand was clearly his best shot.

Hoping you are right with regard to Toby, George C, JWH and Rob C. Nothing to do with my Top 500 Challenge, of course  wink

I watched the majority of Toby's game and Toby was excellent. He matched Schoorel on groundstrokes and really attacked him on his second serve. The only difference between the two players on the day was that Schoorel upped the gears on the big points and send down some big serves. To be fair Toby got a bit tight on a couple of the break points. It probably helped that he had two coaches from Bath there this week with him.
If Toby continues to play at that level, he will be top 500 in no time.

And judging by the response to my tweet, it does appear that Toby reads the board here.

Thanks, paulisi, for intresting write ups ( here and for the girls ). Always good to read reports from folk that are there in person.

Bob will be encouraged to read about these guys potentially on the rise towards the 500s :)

Thanks for the reports, paulisi (we got to find out who you are on Twitter too! )

You mentioned Bloomers as one of the coaches. While it doesn't surprise me that he is mixing coaching and playing these days, I've obviously missed this one - which player is he coaching?

Dave's ability to go to sleep and lose 4 games, and then wake up and win 5, is really second to none. If he could now could just make it 6 . . .

edit: which he does with consummate ease . . . 6-3 6-4 to Dave, and Nielsen's run comes to an end.

Great win for Dave.

Tom joins him in the SFs with a routine 1&4 win against Aswat.

Unfortunately looks like neither of the other two will be joining them with both down a set and a break (Rob at 3-4* and George at 4-5* in the second).

George saves MP and breaks back. Now 5-5.

But unfortunately Van Der Duim breaks back immediately and will serve for the match a second time.

Schoorel beat Rob 3&4. All of Schoorel's wins this week have been fairly close, but nonetheless he hasn't dropped a set (I don't think).

Sorry Bob!

VDD makes no mistake this time and serves it out. 1/3 today for the Brits against non-Brits and all four matches went with ranking.
