3/3 for the Brits today, finished in style as Richard takes a career best ranking scalp in straight sets!

QF: (5) Ed Corrie WR 329 beat Alexios Halebian (USA) WR 844 (CH 813 in Nov) by 6-4 6-7(2) 6-1
QF: (4) Dan Smethurst WR 305 beat Torsten Wietoska (GER) WR 637 (CH 533 in Dec) by 6-3 6-7(8) 6-0
QF: (6) Richard Gabb WR 430 beat (2) Germain Gigounon (BEL) WR 251 (CH 237 in Dec) by 4 & 2

SF: (5) Ed Corrie WR 329 v (7) Dimitar Kutrovsky (BUL) WR 451 (CH 312 in 2012)
SF: (4) Dan Smethurst WR 305 v (6) Richard Gabb WR 430

Ed has not played Kutrovsky on tour before but they both went to the same university in Texas - I think the Bulgarian would have been in the year above Ed but they almost certainly played on the same team.

Dan beat Richard in 2 close sets in Sunderland in January, 6-4 7-6(3)

Fantastic result for Rich that.

So all three of the (ranked) Brits make the semis. biggrin Excellent stuff. One British finalist guaranteed, although I have a nasty suspicion Kutrovsky will end up winning the title.

Just checking the rankings implications - whoever wins the all-GB semi tomorrow will definitely hit a new career high and Dan will make sure of a top 300 place if he wins while Richard will more likely than not make the top 400 for the first time if he wins.

You won't be surprised that I hope your prediction about Kutrovsky turns out wrong, TMH!

Very good :)

As some previously commented, the run of two Canadian 15Ks and a Challenger did look a good tournament choice, and not going too badly at all so far !

Excellent win for Rich.

let's hope Ed can win and make it an all GB final - he needs the points with quite a bit to defend.

Next week's event looks much stronger.

It seems that Dan and Ed won their doubles. They seem to have found a good partnership together.

Don't forget that Smethurst beat Kutrovsky in his Champaign run at the end of last year.

Great win for Gabb, really excited to see how these three guys equip themselves at Rimmouski (and future challengers smile )

Brilliant !!! Didn't expect that result :::)))

And, without checking, wasn't it in Canada that Dan Evans, James Ward and Sam Murray had so many of their best results last year? What is it about that place ???

So the British invasion of Canada goes on. What a great result from Rich in particular. Decent points all round.

A close-run thing, but they got there in the end:

SF:  (1) Ed Corrie & Dan Smethurst CR 581 (317+264) defeated (3) Dimitar Kutrovsky & Dean O'Brien (BUL/RSA) CR 1270 (827+443) by 6-7(6) 6-0 [10-5] smile

Good day for Ed & Dan!

*****

Final:  (1) Ed Corrie & Dan Smethurst CR 581 (317+264) vs Kamil Pajkowski & Filip Peliwo (CAN/CAN) UNR

The Canucks have done well to get as far as they have.  Ed & Dan will have to watch out!

Great to see more wins from our boys, especially pleased with that scalp for Richard Gabb
