RE: Week 10 - Canada F1 ($15,000) - Gatineau (Hard)

I think that this replaces a 0 for Mr Smethurst. He loses 18 on the 31st of March, but at current point levels, this would put him into the top 250. All bets are off, though, as this may be quite a volatile period in doubles rankings.

SC out having fun? That's what I should be doing - oops!

A tricky 1st set, but then (not for the first time this week) the Brits put their foot down ...

FINAL: (1) Ed Corrie & Dan Smethurst CR 581 (317+264) beat Kamil Pajkowski & Filip Peliwo (CAN/CAN) UNR by 7-6(4) 6-1

That's their 3rd doubles title of 2013 together, their 5th together overall and the 13th in total for each of them.

I wish!  Nope, attention diverted by progress in Andy's ultimately successful R2 match in Indian Wells agin Lukas Rosol.  Forgot to check on the time of the doubles final ( ), which wasn't showing on bet365, or I might have noticed it.  That said, delighted to see the win. smile

FINAL: (4) Dan Smethurst WR 305 beat (7) Dimitar Kutrovsky (BUL) WR 451 (CH 312 in 2012) by 2 & 3

That should take him, up to around WR 270

Fantastic performace.

Dans (almost) "Busta"esque start to the season goes on.

Long may it continue.

What a performance from Dan, the above says it all on how far he seems to have come on in the past few months!

Does the double in Gatineau!

Great win - looking good for a Wimbledon main draw wildcard already.

Yes, great stuff !!

I think this is the first year in quite a number that I didn't make optmistic noises about this could be Dan's breakthrough year, in spite of that encouraging end to last year. And I didn't even put him in my GB top 10 for this year.

Go, me !!
