Very nice performance by Mr Federer. So the matches that the tournament organisers and general public were hoping for are on ....

It was a good performance from Federer but Tsonga was woeful. If Andy was fully fit I would have him as red hot favourite against Federer but it is hard to know quite what level Andy is at.

Interesting to hear that Tsonga wasn't on song as it were. the way the R5LSX commies were talking about it, it was like it was the old Fed was back, and defeated an on form Tsonga.

I agree with RJA - saw most of the match and, yes, Roger was playing very well but Tsonga looked as though his head was anywhere but where it should be - really poor.

Hmm. Not daring to watch the other QF right now. Would love Wawrinka to win. But my, that would change the dynamics!

Djokovic a break up at *2-1 in the decider. Stan's chances shrinking a little.

Spoke too soon - back on serve at 2 all.

Stan takes it 9-7 in the fifth.

Unless he is playing Andy in the final I hope he goes on to win the tournament.

Suspect there's a pretty large warrenful of happy hoppers worldwide (and yes, I'm one of them). That one was way overdue.

I heard a little bit of Andy's post match press conference and reading between the lines it sounds like he thinks he is good shape. He said something like 'once you reach the QFs you are in with a chance of winning the event'. I don't want to read too much into that but it sounded quite genuine and like he thinks he is a now a genuine contender for the title.

Poor first set from Andy. No intensity at all.

Fed playing nicely but not being put under any pressure.

A more encouraging start to the second set.

Second set was better but Andy played the big points badly. Hard to see him coming back from 2 sets down.

I haven't been able to watch this until the end of the 3rd set - just in time to see Andy take it on the tiebreak

I'm still expecting a loss today but I'm really glad to see him fighting hard, and not showing any sign of pain other than the normal towards-the-end-of-a-tournament niggles.

Somehow, somehow, Andy takes the third set.

Great resolve and great fight.
