After yet another wobble, Andy eventually scrapes home & given how Djoko & Rog were dumped out, I reckon I'll take it:

L16:  (3) Andy Murray WR 3 defeated (16) Gilles Simon (FRA) WR 17 by 2-6 6-4 7-6(6)

Back up to world n° 2, too, since Rog lost! wink

****

QF:  (3) Andy Murray WR 3 vs (6) Tomas Berdych (CZE) WR 6

I was thinking that ... last match on centre court, British No. 1 v 16th seed and final set tie-break...

thankfully the similarities ended theresmile

Fed losing secures Andy as no 2 seed for the French Open, because Fed won't be able to get back the now 990 point gap ( with "maybe" more to come ) next week in Rome.

That was like an all-GEM match (i.e. "you win," "no, you win," "ah, mais non, j'insiste ..." etc) but at least Andy made it to the QFs, which is more than can be said for Nole or Fed!

Muzz is the 14th Brit to make QFs or better in singles at ATP- or WTA-ranked events at various levels this week (11 men, 3 women - 8 of the men live to fight again on Friday)

Murray needs a win over Berdych it would give him a lot of valuable confidence. I think he has done well already so I hope he can relax and play his best like he did last US open.
