Started well but squandered so many opportunities and played some staggeringly bad games in the second set.

My pessimism about Andy's game is growing with every passing tournament.

Disappointing, but at least an improved show. I think he can and maybe should do better on clay, but I think it will be QF or SF at best at Roland Garros.

I remain optimistic though that there are good things to come for Andy this year, very much including Wimbledon. I'd love him always to be doing better, but I don't have an overall pessimism.

Well yes, I still think he has good shot at Wimbledon, especially with Federer's current form.

My pessimism though comes from me not thinking he has played well, apart from in flashes, since the Olympics, and yes I include the US Open in that.

Yes, I am already aware that we have different judgements ( or maybe rather your overall expectations are higher than mine ) re last year's US Open and this year's Aussie Open.
