I want to see Andy much more aggressive. Those two sets were painful, it was Andy of the bad old days.

So what is Lendl actually doing then?

You can hardly blame Lendl for Andy's inexplicable retreat into his bad old ways. You can be pretty sure that he is far from pleased by it.

Andy has taken only 2 out of 15 break points.

From a break down in the 3rd I thought he played some imaginative tennis; drop shots were working well, a few aggressive forehands crosscourt, nice backhand pass to take the 3rd set, tried to hit the return rather than block it back.

Maybe we should put a time-clock on all of Andy's matches, tell him he has to finish by a certain time. It certainly seemed to galvanise him!

Well done Andy. A couple of those falls looked quite heavy and painful too - top marks for not letting it get to you.

Indeed. Why oh why he had to wait until crisis point before he started doing that I really don't know. After seeing him play so well against Davydenko and doing a profesional job against Karlovic I really was shocked to see such a limp persformance in the first two sets. Yes I know the wind made it awkward and I can understand a degree of caution but not to the extent that we saw.

If I was was Lendl my comments would be "Really well done on digging yourself out of that hole but what the hell were you doing to end up in there in the first place"

Perhaps he meant "when exactly around 11pm is a tennis decision", as they had a little leeway on the decision.
