sry if this has been covered elsewhere, i've looked but haven't able to find the answer. does anyone know why the brit boys aren't playing dubs together at rg? i know oli and jiri have had some success together, but was surprised to see kyle and george playing w non-brit partners. i know alot of the other boys teams stick together, nationwise or languagewise - france, usa, ger/aus, etc.
is this an lta coaching choice/strategy? do the lads not get on? (i don't think this is the case) or maybe liam was going to team up with either george or kyle, and so it's mostly just coincidendental and i'm looking for a pattern where none applies? tia for any light you can shed on this for me!

It's not just Oli + Jiri who have had success. George + Mate have played together in their last 3 tournaments and won a Grade 1 event in Australia, so it's logical that they should pair up again. That only leaves Kyle, who therefore has to play with a non-Brit.

Interesting report from ITF, talking about his move to Spain:
It is 39 years since a Briton last won the boys singles at Roland Garros but perhaps Oli Golding could be the man to break the drought. The fourth seed battled his way into the last 16 of the junior event at the French Open on Tuesday, fighting off a dodgy stomach and a stubborn opponent to move a step closer to a first grand slam title. The 17-year-old was a semi-finalist at Wimbledon last summer and then reached the final of the Eddie Herr International Junior Championships in November. On a cold, windy day at Roland Garros, he showed the benefits of a recent move to train in Spain as he ground down Dimitar Kuzmanov of Bulgaria 64 36 62 out on Court No 17. It was a tough match, Golding said. I should probably have closed it out in two but I wasnt feeling great. I ate some pasta about an hour before I went on the court and it seems to have done something bad to me. I started alright but towards the end I was just making balls and I think maybe he got a bit tight in the third set, which helped. Having spent some time training in Mexico at the end of last year, Golding has switched to Spain and the academy run by former Spanish professional Galo Blanco, a man credited with the rise to prominence of Milos Raonic, the Canadian who has broken into the worlds top 30 this year. Its been pretty good, Golding said of his decision to move. I did a really big fitness block in January and that was good. Obviously playing a lot of Futures events has brought my game up and obviously just playing with the guys at the academy has helped. Golding will take on American Marcos Giron for a place in the quarter-finals and said winning the title was his only goal this week. The last few months Ive actually been playing pretty well, he said. Ive started doing better in the Futures, beating guys ranked 400, so I am happy with that and Ive just got to keep working hard day to day.
