Bettles saves two break points but can't save a third:

GB 1-6, 5-6*

GSM Australia 6-1, 7-5 and they take the tie 2-1.

Australia used more doubles tactics, employing both the I-formation and the Australian formation. They served big and often came out on top in net to net exchanges.

Deserved victory, but GB should be proud of their efforts this week.

Disappointing end but from what I saw the pressure was all on the British service games and the better pair won. Good at least to break new ground in this competition and reach the final.

Yes, it's always a shame to lose after getting so far, but they exceeded expectations by quite a distance, clearly lost to a very good team and were the only team to take a rubber off them all week!

George should be very proud of his performances earlier this week, Andrew did exceptionally well today (if he was playing the Aussie no. 2) and while Ollie had a disappointing week, a lot of these teams probably have a no. 1 who's much better than their no. 2, so if you're the no. 1, you're always at risk of having by far the tougher singles rubber.

It woiuld have been great to win, and I am sure they will be very disappointed to have got so far and lose out in the final.

But it was a very good performance over the week.  They appear to have fought a good final to opponents who were overall better on the day.

Hopefully we will see much more of Ollie, George and Andrew in the future and the class of 1993 will make real strides in the game.

Unlucky to have come so far, but an awesome week overall.

There's an article up on Tennis Australia about the final.

There's also one about the semi final win in the independent, doesn't really add much, but good to see it getting some recognition.
