Record Top 100?

Aljaz carries on his in-out routine, while his own points remain unchanged. Down 2 to WR 102.

As we end the first month of 2017 the top 100 count remains the same.

16 since 21.11.16 ( 3 MS, 6 MD, 3 WS, 4 WD )

1 - Andy M
45 - Dan E
47 - Kyle E

8 - Jamie M
43 - Dom I
76 - Colin F
79 - Ken S
87 - Jonny M
91 - Neal S

10 - Johanna K
73 - Heather W
98 - Naomi B

67 - Naomi B
80 - Heather W
88 - Anna S
97 - Jocelyn R

We have 5 from WR 101 to 200 :

110 - Aljaz B ( singles )

190 - Luke B ( doubles )

158 - Tara M ( singles )

136 - Johanna K ( doubles )
159 - Tara M ( doubles )

The fairly long standing men's doubles group looks the most vulnerable, with Colin retired and Jonny having just had a good week but defending 90 points this week. The Skupskis have for a while now been around the 70 to 90 range without decisive movement. Luke does seem to be the coming doubles guy, having now entered the top 200. In women's doubles it would be good to see Jossanna more firmly in the top 100 again.

In singles Naomi is defending 140 Midland title points this week to try and stay top 100 for now.

Naomi falls out of the singles top 100 in spite of a very good defence of her Midland title. Runner up this time and drops from WR 98 to 107 ( though in line with what has overall been a pretty good start to the year is now up to race #65 )

Yes, fingers crossed Naomi can get back inside the top 100 again soon, albeit she has last year's Kuala Lumpur SF points to defend shortly...

One in, one out from the top 100s.

Naomi's points are unchanged from the previous Monday, but with other players' falls she has risen from WR 103 to WR 100.

Jonny Marray had 45 points dropping off and falls from WR 96 to WR 101.

A few changes, dropping the total top 100ers by 2.

Naomi loses a net 7 points and her singles ranking drops 5 places to WR 105 ( slightly inordinate fall, but she did rise 3 places last week for no points change ).

In men's doubles Neal Skupski and the retired Colin Fleming each lose 90 points and drop 9 to WR 102 and 9 to WR 105 respectively. Partly due to these drops Jonny Marray with unchanged points rises 3 places to WR 98.

Heather's drop has been mentioned elsewhere such as the effect in the "Strongest Nation?" thread. Yes, on an individual basis this was the week her 280 Monterrey title points came off and she replaced these with 30 Acapulco points. The net effect has been a drop from WR 73 to WR 108. Monterrey this year is at the beginning of April, after Miami. Hopefully it can provide again!

Aljaz back into the top 100 ( up 11 to WR 94 ) after once again winning the Irving super challenger event ( for the second time in 3 years and runner-up last year ).

Joss Rae drops out of the top 100 ( down 2 to WR 101 ) with unchanged total ranking points, although ( with Anna Smith ) she does now have 80 points to defend by the next post Miami rankings update.

17 points coming off Jonny Marray sees him drop 3 places to WR 102 and thus out of the top 100.

Having only in February had 6 men in the doubles top 100 we are now down to 2 with Ken Skupski dropping 45 points and falling 4 places to WR 101. Jonny Marray is WR 102 and been rather inactive, Neal Skupski is WR 115 and the retired Colin Fleming is still on the list at WR 132. The next highest, and clearly more up and coming, are Luke Bambridge and Joe Salisbury at WR 173 and WR 176 respectively.

Of course, to the vast majority singles is more important and it is great that we have today 4 guys in the top 60. But I believe enough of us are at least interested in doubles to be concerned at the current lack of depth after Jamie and Dom. And imagine say we needed another doubles player for Davis Cup.

With points coming off over the last fortnight for now the Skupskis drop out of the top 100 again ( Ken down 13 to 105 and Neal down 10 to 107 ). Started well this week though.
