Another brilliant interview. smile http://www.australianopen.com/en_AU/news/interviews/2009-01-31/200901301233295108937.html

Look out for the Verdasco jumper, the jelly snakes, being upset about not getting to challenge ... all very amusing ... plus her diplomatic but firm answer to 'the Australian question':

Q. Do you have a bit of a soft spot for Australia being born here and having the success you've had?

LAURA ROBSON: I think I get asked that question every time I'm in here. It's a really beautiful country. It's nice that I have family here as well, but definitely England is my home.

... and last but not least, the telling off she gave the journo who dismissed all the other GB female players:

Q. Britain used to have female tennis players. Do you feel that you could be part of a revival?

LAURA ROBSON: Well, it's not really a revival, because Anne is already top 50. I don't like that question.

Pervak's interview is quite funny too http://www.australianopen.com/en_AU/news/interviews/2009-01-31/200901311233380001468.html, e.g.

Q. What was the difference? Was it physical?

KSENIA PERVAK: I think it was everything. Like I played better.

Pity she couldn't make that final step, but very well done to get to the final.

She's good at handling the media, isn't she? laughing.gif

Bad luck for Laura. Just came across a player who has much more experiecne than her and is of course two and half years older. She was well into the match in the first set and is she had taken her chances it would have been a different story I think.

Still a great week for Laura though.

Q. What was the difference? Was it physical?

KSENIA PERVAK: I think it was everything. Like I played better.

Hmm I not convinced Pervak will get many more wins over Laura once they are both established seniors so she should enjoy this one. wink

Laura has a history of beating players that she had previously lost to eg Mladenovic, Konta, Jovanovski and Oudin.
