I've linked to the table from the front page menu on the rankings page(s), also from the "top 16 table that's at the top of that page.

- excellent as ever: both easier to understand and more detailed!

What's the plan now? will you be producing both tables or just this new one? IF just the new one, then maybe we should have a "quick & dirty" top 10, like the doubles top 10 for the mens singles players to head the rankings page, and to be pasted in the first post of this thread.....

Also, will it be possible to work the bt.net template into the new table: would be good to fit the banner, the page menu and some ads onto there........

Thanks Rob.

I'm intending to just produce the new one and FTP it. Giving up on messing about with the old version to make it work in the blogs and on the various message boards will let me provide a much better service with the new one hopefully. However, it may dip next week because I am away for a seven days from Friday and may or may not get the chance to do the odd update while I'm away. I'll be back just in time for the start of the DC tie.

So yes, maybe just a note of the top 10 on the rankings page and in the first page of this thread with a link to the more detailed ranking/whereabouts info would be good.

I'm definitely going to look into whether it's possible to fit the new BT template around the table without it adding to the time it takes to publish it each time, but it's going to have to wait until mid-late February when I have some more time to work on it - I'll sort out the new stats page at that stage as well.

At worst, I should be able to add some BT.net 'branding' to the table (as on the pick 'em entry form) and some links back into the main site, but I may be able to do better than that.

Also, while I remember, at the moment the URL includes the week, i.e. http://www.britishtennis.net/gbtop25m/2008wk05.htm (I've set up the gbtop25m directory so that the tables don't clutter up the main bt.net directory) but longer term it'll probably be better if I put the current week's table in something like http://www.britishtennis.net/gbtop25m/current.htm and then move them out to URLs with the right week numbers to archive them only at the end of each week. That way, the main link can always go to the same place.

Finally, all of Tuesday's results (more or less a sea of blue biggrin) are now reflected on http://www.britishtennis.net/gbtop25m/2008wk05.htm

It happens all the time, those who were included in both of last year's DC effectively had six weeks taken out of the tennis calendar, even more frustrating for Bloomers who didnt even get to play a game although he undoubtedly relished the experience and the atmosphere, especially being there to say goodbye to Greg and again to Tim but he missed several challengers in that time.

It'll be the lowest he's been since late 2005 and yes, I doubt JL will.

The Swiss tie was the beginning of the end for Dave Sherwood too.

Not that's it's entirely JL's fault (or any other DC captain's) that they fall down the rankings, but it does seem like losing 3 weeks of Challengers at your best

time of year to show up at a DC tie you know you aren't going to play a meaningful match in can be a bit demoralising.

I am going to be away from later today until next Friday. The likelihood is that I won't be able to post any updates during this time (though it should be the last time for a while that I'm away for an extended period), in which case I'll finish the week 5 table and do a big catch up on week 6 next Friday when I get back.

I have updated http://www.britishtennis.net/gbtop25m/2008wk05.htm with Friday's result from Tipton. It's now early Saturday and Friday's results from Portugal and Mexico still haven't appeared on ITF, ATP, MTF (or even TennisEurope for the POR ones), so unless they appear in the next couple of hours before I leave, that's how the table's going to stay, I'm afraid.

I hope Josh, Slabba and James keep winning!

The week 6 table is now up to date at http://www.britishtennis.net/gbtop25m/current.htm (a new URL that will always hold the current week's table and is the best one to use for your link, Rob), as well as being available at http://www.britishtennis.net/gbtop25m/2008wk06.htm.

A preview of week 7 is available at http://www.britishtennis.net/gbtop25m/2008wk07.htm - the Alts link to the relevant qualifying draws to help those who want to see if players on Alt lists turn up for qualifying. Of course, players at the top of an Alt list (like Slabba) are likely to end up being a DA.

I'll switch the current URL from one week to the next at the end of the day when the later of these two things happens:

- the last match involving a top 25 Brit is played in the current week
- the first draw involving a top 25 Brit comes out for the following week

Hopefully I'll get the chance to sort out the new stats page and update the longer-term tables this weekend or next.

Since the only GB interest left in week 6 is in the DC tie (which people can find out plenty of info about all over the place without having to look too hard) and there is a lot of GB interest in Futures qualifying this weekend, http://www.britishtennis.net/gbtop25m/current.htm now points to the week 7 table, which has now been updated with the whereabouts of all of the GB Top 25 next week.

For week 6, please see http://www.britishtennis.net/gbtop25m/2008wk06.htm instead.
