Andy (NOT) to return in Washington

Great news !   Seems pretty definate this time

"Andy Murray will make his return from injury at the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington at the end of this month.

The 20-year-old Scot has not played since hurting his wrist at the Hamburg Masters in May.

Murray, who got the all-clear from his doctor earlier this week, told his website andymurray.com: "Washington's where I'm gonna play next.

"My wrist's responded really well to all the treatment, and the careful approach I've taken with it."

I couldn't agree more, Madeline.clap.gif After the disappointments and injuries to players of late, it's good to have Minto back in the fray to share in the burden of expectation we put on our players. Fingers crossed that all goes well for him.

Can't wait for Andys return.
Think it might take him a couple of tourneys
to get going again, but the main thing is that
he is fully fit.

That is so disappointing. Better to wait till he's 100% happy with the wrist, I suppose.

Damn! cry.gifcry.gifcry.gif
But better not to risk anything, I suppose. A report on his website earlier said he still wasn't hitting full strength on his forehand.

It's not good, is it...he's going to start taking rankings hits now in a big way. If it can't be helped, so be it, but this injury is proving to be a major setback

It's just time and taking it all in very gradual stages, I think.

He is young so will recover a lot faster than if he was 20 years older!

But that is very disappointing!

Maybe its better to take on a series of 3 set events and ignore US Open etc ?

It's such a shame that whenever we get a Brit
doing well along comes some sort of injury.
It's a real pity Andy has withdrew from next week
but he has to be 100% or he could make the
problem much worse and be out the rest of
the year. That really would be a big blow for
us brit fans. Get well Andy and come back
better than ever.

It a shame hes not competing, it will be nearly 4 months since he last competed, so come Montreal hopefully he will shake off the rustiness and get back to business. also his absence makes it very unlikely for him to get to the Masters Cup, which was his aim at the start of the year and was on course to do so before his injuries setback. However, it would take a miracle for him to qualify for the Masters Cup and the way to do so is by winning the USO or getting to the final at least!! Though there always next year or the year after that and.......
