Wow - it brings it home how sophisticated a bunch we are on here: I'd no idea that Excel was such a foreign concept

That's true, most of the andymurray.com members are teenagers...not all will have done IT or be skilled website designers ()

You guys probably use excel regularly in your day jobs, I'd imagine ?

Yep.

Hmm- we're going to have to find a webforms program to use to capture the data for Roland Garros

freewebs has some basic forms. And they recommend something called webmonkey......I'll add it to the development list.

....Which I guess we should start - how's about another thread?

I think it should be relatively easy to set up a form that allows people to make their picks online and then spews out a load of data that we can put in the spreadsheet - the design would take some thinking about to ensure that it was easy to produce the results from it, but it can all be done (and it would mean we didn't need a big spreadsheet on every tab, which will help if there are ever 100+ entrants) - it would take more time to set up than this method, but it would be worth doing if demand for these comps keep rising.

I'm sure the 'Excel is a foreign concept' thing is to do with a difference in average age - there are bound to be more bandwagon-jumping teenagers on am.com (and it's not a bad thing if Andy's success has made them enthusiastic ) than there are here.

But then sheddie set up this competition with am.com off his own bat without giving me the chance to think about the implications (or even checking whether I'd be around for the first weekend LOL) - I'm not complaining, because I think this will be fun , but the sensible thing to do would probably have been to give the system a chance to settle down then challenge am.com for the grand slams instead.

Still, I guess at least this way we get some experience of what can go wrong before the slams come along - imagine the number of entrants we might be able to attract for this competition at Wimby time.

Anyway, enough of that, the important thing is:

The entry sheet with qualifiers placed in the draw is now downloadable via http://www.britishtennis.net/Competitions.html - it's the same link but the files have been updated.

If anyone has started and doesn't want to re-download but would like to know who each Qualifier/LL in the original sheet is, here they are:

Qualifier/LL 1 = (Q) Guillermo Canas ARG
Qualifier/LL 2 = (Q) Kevin Kim USA
Qualifier/LL 3 = (Q) Amer Delic USA
Qualifier/LL 4 = (Q) Andreas Seppi ITA
Qualifier/LL 5 = (LL) Evgeny Korolev RUS
Qualifier/LL 6 = (Q) Raemon Sluiter NED
Qualifier/LL 7 = (Q) Robin Haase NED
Qualifier/LL 8 = (Q) Simone Bolelli ITA
Qualifier/LL 9 = (Q) Chris Guccione AUS
Qualifier/LL 10 = (Q) Feliciano Lopez ESP
Qualifier/LL 11 = (Q) Teimuraz Gabashvili RUS
Qualifier/LL 12 = (Q) Ivo Karlovic CRO
Qualifier/LL 13 = (Q) Ricardo Mello BRA

Edit: Could someone who is still up please download the latest sheet and check it thoroughly against the main draw on the ATP site? I'm pretty sure it's all correct, but I've looked at it so many times that my eyes are glazing over and if someone finds a mistake now, at least we can correct it before the expected mass download in the morning! If you're going to do that, please say so, so that other people know they don't need to.

Lol, the reason why I went ahead gung-ho with challenging AM.com was because I couldn't wait till RG steven ! Anyway as you say, it will give us a chance to foolproof the system for the big tourneys.

Count, I've asked Naomi about Boggo's match...will let ppl know what she says

Do we know how many we've got now on our team...I've been sending quite a few pms off, appealing for more competitors.

Let me know if we need to chase anyone up via email to make their picks...who's done theirs so far ?

problem with the freewebs forms is that there's only a limited no of submissions you get (30 I think) unless you buy premium which gives you unlimited

another thread for that sounds good

If you still need numbers I'll throw in my predictions for the British Tennis board.
