Whoo-hoo - joint first. I need to enjoy it because I had Haas, Safin and Gonzo all getting to at least the QFs so I won't be high in the table for long.

Thanks Josh for doing all the updates on here over the weekend, excellent job.

I've now posted a full update, showing everyone's scores by round and how many places people have moved over the weekend at:

http://www.britishtennis.net/2007mi.htm

One mystery though - I make it that we lead 1899-1744 instead of 1895-1744 because Grundon has 74 points instead of 70. I assume the discrepancy is in R3, where he's got Mathieu, Murray, Ferrer, Roddick, Djokovic and Rafa correct so far and is the highest scorer with 24.

If you look on the R-Det tab in your file, does Grundon have 24 points for R3 so far? If so, how many points does he have for R2?

I can't believe I'm still in 3rd place, after Haas and Gonzo (two of my QF picks) joined Blake (my losing finalist pick) as early losers - I guess it'll take a couple more rounds before I really begin to feel the effects of that, but I don't think I'm going to still be a big scorer for BT by the end of it all.

It's also a bit worrying that we are only 115-109 ahead of AM in correct picks in R3 so far - it suggests that they are going to have similar numbers of players left to us for the important rounds to come.

I still think we should win unless Andy wins the title though.

Today could be my big day: I've still got all the higher seeded players in the top half in my picks, and have have chosen them to get through.....So barring upsets, could be good for me this evening!

thanks for getting my extra 4 points Steven
i will probably need them as my top half of the draw predictions are a bit wayward

btw - i assume no-one will be disappointed if BT loses and Andy wins the title!
....but is it impossible to get both wins??

No, I'm sure we won't be disappointed - so we should all end this competition with something to be happy about, whatever happens.

It's not impossible for Andy to win and us to win, but we'd have to be 256 points ahead of AM.com before the Final, which means probably even more than that before the semis, because I don't think (m)any of us picked Andy to even reach the Final, so the four AMs who picked him to win could pick up nearly 100 points more to add to that 256 that we won't get.

What follows is just a guess, because so much depends on who all the QF and SF players turn out to be, but ...

- if Andy goes out before the semis, we'll almost certainly win
- if Andy goes out in the semis, we'll probably win
- if Andy reaches the Final and loses to Fed, it's going to be exceptionally close
- if Andy wins the Final, they'll almost certainly win

The only reason you didn't get the points was that my update didn't include mathieu v gonzo, and you were the only person to pick mathieu to win.

Doh! Why didn't I think of that explanation.

I thought it must be a corruption on Grundon's sheet in your file, because otherwise why would nobody else have been affected ... yet at the other time I was thinking didn't Grundon do well being the only person to pick Mathieu. If only I'd made the connection between the two. LOL

Anyway, it's good to know that everything's working ok (except my brain, obviously!)

Oh noooooooooo, Delic is now a set and a break up against the Undertaker. There goes another of my semi-finalists unless he can turn this around quick. 24 of us picked Davydonkey in this match to 23 AMs - if Delic wins, nobody gets any points, if Kolya can turn it round, we get 96 to their 92.

Btw there were no points at stake in Falla-Stepanek, because everyone picked Haas to win that match.

Davydenko lost to Delic ... now I'm really doomed. &%$*^% Americans! (Blake for losing, Delic for winning!)

Two matches down today, total points scored by either side: 0!

King Kong has 2 points though. Good for the hairy gorillas!

Mayer v Robredo just started - I was the only BT to pick Mayer, while Wimblyfan and AllyB from AM did the same. 15 from each side picked Robredo. 7 BTs and 6 AMs picked Verdasco, who went out to Mayer.

Berdych is gone to Chela - even when I don't predict him to go far he finds a way to screw up my predictions. I had him going out to the Undertaker in the next round anyway but still - he annoys me with his underachieving.

... and I stuck with Mayer for just a round too long (he was a good R2 pick!) - he lost to Robredo, which dropped me down 4 to 7th , and I've stayed there even though I got Chela beating Berdych right - or rather, I got Chela reaching R4 from that match, I actually had Clément to beat Berdych a round earlier!

As a result of all this, we've extended our team lead a bit more, but although there is still only one AM in the top 14, that AM (cazza99) has just moved into 1st= with our FD!

For a detailed update after Fed's win, see http://www.britishtennis.net/2007mi.htm

Grr. Canas has just broken against Gasquet, and is adding to my messed up picks today.

Why Tomas? Why Nicolay?

What's worse is he'll overtake Tim if he does win

Gasquet broke back but Canas has just taken it to a breaker

Canas is a set up - he won the breaker. On serve in the second set. Some great tennis in this match though - Gasquet is being far more aggressive than I've seen him in a while, even venturing to net quite often and Canas is showing why he was a top 10 player. Very enjoyable so far - but I need Gasquet to turn it around and win here or else I'm in a bit of bother for the comp today.
