the updated table is posted here (on Britishtennis.net)
Ljubicic lost to A-Rod.
The battle of the close competitors sees Djokovic vs Ferrer at 12:30 Pacific time (= 7:30 GMT?)
If Ferrer wins, he overtakes Andy and Nole, but is defending a Miami semi- finals place from last year, so Andy has a chance to leapfrog straight back over him next week, if he can't beat Haas today.
If Djokovic wins, he'll overtake Ancic, and Andy will need to beat him in the semis to go past him this week.
Andy plays Haas. If he wins, he overtakes Ancic, and both Ferrer and Djokovic if Ferrer wins. just Ancic if Djokovic wins.
Best case today: Andy at 11th. Worst case: Andy back down to 14th.
There's only Ferrer left behind him now, so 14th is worst case for the week.
Djokovic looking likely to win here, a set and 5-4 up with a break.
Probably the best result for Andy as it stands - it means that Andy is guaranteed to be ranked in the top 12, hence avoiding the top 4 seeds until the quarter finals (ancic is still out) in Miami
Andy wins and advances to number 12 on the rankings!!
A win over Djokovic tomorrow would take Andy into the top 10 for the first time (above Djokovic and Nalbandian). A big ask after tonight's exploits but you never know with Andy.
At least Andy moves to a career high at number 12; let us hope he will recover from his woes by Miami. Miami is like Indian Wells - with the seeds getting a bye in the first round, so Andy should not have to play before Sunday, hopefully.
