Pick 'em Contest Indian Wells

Still in 1st... and still looking like I can win this, but I have a feeling this could be choked away....

Nadal is my hope for today, as that will give me some more points, and I presume fewer of my chasers picked Ljubicic to get to the semis than Roddick (I had Nalbandian...), so a win for the Croat would strengthen my position a bit more

I'll take England as the country of my flag

N.B. I'm still waiting to hear the right flag to use for most of you - see above

Only the bottom half QFs are being played tonight.

In the first, FD, Guy, mkkreuk & Alex went for Rafa - they will be the top 4 in that order if he wins, with Alex climbing from 13th. Nobody went for Chela, so the rest of us will be hoping that he wins, having gone for Youzhny, Robredo, Baghdatis or Berdych here.

In the second, only Mike went for Ljubo - he could rise from 14th to 2nd if Ivan wins and Rafa doesn't. Everyone else except FD, John & aria81 (I assume they went for big Dave) went for the quacker - FD could drop to 8th if Chela and the Duck both win.

I'd like my flag to be The EU one please Steven (if that's too much trouble then I suppose the Union Jack or flag of St George would be OK)

I've just finished a module on the European Union and I'm feeling all international

Detailed results after the Rafa-Chela match can be found at http://www.xlw93.dial.pipex.com/2007iw.htm - this is very much a work in progress, so comments are very welcome.

I have put links to this forum and britishtennis.net at the end but britishtennis.net seems to be down at the moment so I haven't made any attempt to host the page on there yet, it's on some old webspace I don't use any more instead.

Why is everyone playing for Canada?

As it says at the bottom, if a player hasn't told me their nationality yet, they're assumed to have a Canadian mother and to have defected from GB to Canada - just to redress the balance as it were.

As we know, all the coolest players defect the other way round and as soon as I get nationalties from these people, the LTA (or wherever) will no doubt welcome them with open arms.

Basically, I thought it was less likely to be offensive than calling English players Scottish and vice versa.

Love the table Steven. What nationality is roberta? It's hard to tell cos it's small; is it the UN flag?

Detailed table at http://www.xlw93.dial.pipex.com/2007iw.htm now updated after the Duck-Ljubo match.

We've all been made redundant by a robot ... but she'll drop a place or two whoever wins the Andy-Haasassin match tonight. If Duckboy beats Rafa in the SFs, Roberta may even finish outside the top 10, but if Rafa wins, Roberta will win the competition by miles.

David - maybe if there's a prize involved, people should only be able to win it if they beat the robot, just to discourage everyone from only picking the higher-rated players!

Bethan - yes, it's the UN flag. We still have 9 'Canadians' unfortunately. (hint!)

Steven, when I click that link it brings up the non-updated version of the table.
