... and that's despite all the upsets!
But seriously, I should either start thinking with my head more than with my heart or else stop playing such games.

Amazing how FD has suddenly opened up such a big lead, yet there's less than a R4 win to choose between the rest of the top 10. Well done FD!
Tonight's Haas-Gonzo match is a big one for this competition, and especially for Drew, even though FD is now bound to still be top at the end of the night. If Haas wins, FD will still be 10 points ahead and Drew will drop from 3rd to 11th. If Gonzo wins, Drew will cut FD's lead to 4 points.
By the way, Arka has now scored more points than the average panda pawing the players would get from the whole tournament (80 with 8 matches to go cf 79) and FD is now ahead of what someone picking the higher-ranked player in each match would have got (130 cf 122) - I'm quite relieved about that!
Two things about David's reinstated points:
a) You can take those points away again, he still hasn't replied to those emails, even though poor you is now having to post each table in two separate posts.
b) Open question for everyone - how do we handle this kind of thing in future? One day, a mess-up like this will only be discovered at the last moment, and the player who made the mistake is going to move from 2nd to 1st and go ahead of a person who was sure they had won, which wll be a big anti-climax.
Of course, maybe if we make it clearer to people that it's the names that get compared between the entry sheets and the master sheets, so they'd better not mess aroun with them, that would help - it probably wasn't that obvious this time.
N.B. I'm not suggesting we should penalise someone who can't get the sheet to work (e.g. because they don't have Excel), but in any case that will get picked up by us and sorted out right at the start. It's weird errors like the one David made that I'm concerned about.

I won't remove the points, David did reply to the email (I'll forward it to you). However he mentioned the use of a program I don't think I own so I may have to ask you to post the table online.
As for how to handle it in the future I think we just need to make clear that it's important to use the numbering system and NOT type anything in the boxes as it's all used to calculate scores. So long as we do that I'd say don't correct any mistakes if they're discovered after a certain point in the tournament (say the end of round 2 or 3) so the scenario you came up with won't happen.

Excel allows us to convert the results sheet into a webpage, retaining all the formatting and even any pictures in the original sheet. We were always intending to use this to post the final results, so that there is a record of each competition on britishtennis.net, but because Bethan is coming up against limits on the message board and it's going to be even worse if we have a lot more entrants for Miami, we're going to start posting detailed results on the web from tonight, though Bethan will continue to post a more basic table on here.
Because posting on the web allows us to add pictures, I'm intending to add a flag for each one of us to give the results a bit more 'colour'. (it will probably be possible to add a logo to each entrant for Miami too, to show which team they are playing for)
So, please let me know your country (ENG, SCO, IND, USA, etc) so that I put the right flag next to you! (I take no responsibility for offending anyone otherwise!) Feel free to choose either your country of origin or the one you live in - for example, Arka, I don't know whether technically you are British or Indian, but either way, it would be nice if you represented India, just to give us a bit more variety in the flags.

It's natural that people will be confused. I'll be Indian as that's what's said on my passport.
