What was Djokovic's score? Two breadsticks or two bagels? (whatever it is, looks like Andy is trying to beat it )

Two breadsticks.  So Andy can afford to lose one game and still have bragging rights.

Andy serving at 60 60 20

0-15, great drop shot from M. Looks a bit like M has relaxed somewhat - nothing to lose now, no expectations - and it's paying dividends, still think Andy has a chance for the triple bagel.
15-15
30-15, BHDL, M gets there returns with same shot, goes wide. A clenched fist from A shows that M has found a bit of form.
40-15, M goes long on return.
2nd serve, groan from Andy as another first serve is called out. game. got into a rally, A injects a load of pace that catches M off guard, lands at his feet and M can't get it back over the net.

60 60 30

Yeah, but now we want the triple bagel so he has bragging matches against everyone!

While this carnage goes on, Nieminen has just lost the first set against Goldstein

Yeah, Lloyd saying it's hard and becomes about pride. M looks like he's really trying to find something to do but Andy is just soo solid, nothing is making any difference.

Martin serving at 06 06 03

0-15
0-30
0-40, DF.
15-40, ue from Andy, who mutters to himself in annoyance!
game. M goes wide on the BHDL (he's trying for the winners, which he has to do but missing)

Andy serving at 60 60 40

2nd serve. (serve % at 47%, it was soo much better last two weeks - where'd that go?). 0-15, DF
15-15, net cord, A right there. M can do nothing but watch the winner whizz past
15-30, DF. went for an ace on the second serve there I think, wants to go to bed?
30-30, M return just long.
40-30, 132mph, sounded and looked like it went through M's racket, he didn't go get a new one though so I guess not.
game. M goes wide.

60 60 50

Martin to serve at 06 06 05.

Watching him at the change of ends, I feel soo sorry for him. He looks about to cry, poor guy. I almost don't want to watch

15-0, A goes wide.
30-0, A goes wide on the BHDL (really upset about that one - perfectionist much?!)
40-0, and again, pressure of history too much for Andy?
2nd serve: game. FHDL winner.

60 60 51

Crowd response to that last game, youd've thought he won the match, or a set at least!

Andy serving at 60 60 51

0-15, A goes out
15-15, M goes wide
30-15, serve volley. Seriously Andy's volleys 12/14 won at net - he's obviously been working on them.
40-15. winner
GSM, cross-court running FH winner from Andy. Very nice end.

60 60 61. Beat that Novak!!

Well, I think (contensiously) this might be seen as an improvement on last year's performance.... Methinks only one side turned up, and they were rather up for it.

I'm interested to see what Kundalini made of this match as, like i said earlier, Andy was not at his best, not that he needed to be. He was great, and got the job done but there was definitely room for improvement and I'm pretty excited to see if Andy can up his game with each match over the next few days, and if he can, this could be a very exciting Aussie Open!

I didn't see much of the match (I've got a lot to do today so thought I would tune in after an hour and see how it was going - oops!) but that's some performance to win 0, 0 & 1 when you're having a 'bad serving day'!

How inane is John Lloyd:

"I'm sure Andy doesn't care whether he gets a triple bagel or not"

I'm sure he cared, especially given that he's quite into the stats himself, and his annoyance with himself during the game that Martin won supports that!

Anyway, a great win - and a brilliant way to turn "7 long matches needed to win a GS" into "6 matches and a quick practice session!"
