RE: Murray v Martin - Australian Open rd1

Andy to serve at 2-0

15-0, drop shot, M got there but his lob went out.
30-0, return long. A's second serve is much better, that one almost looked like a 1st serve.
30-15, A went for too much on the cross-court nad went wide.
40-15, return into net. good serve.
game. serve volley (these are working for him!) puts the volley away nicely.

3-0

Lloyd saying the Aussie Open guys are going to try and play round 1 through the night so Verdasco/Mathieu might just have to play at 1am or whatever, still (hopefully) going to work to Andy's advantage!

Martin serving at 0-3

0-15, missed, sorry.
15-15: ^
15-30, wow that was wide! Looked like the ball sat of M's racket for a while, it was about 2metres outside the Trams!
15-40, great groundstrokes from A, good angles M nets.
game. Whipped a ball out to the side, loads of spin. M gets it back and races to cover the cross-court. A goes behind.

0-4

15-0, M very wide again
30-0, serve volley. volley winner (that was a hard volley, up round his shoulders, made it look easy)
40-0, deep approach shot, puts volley away.
game. return into net.

5-0. (a bagel?)

Jamie just gotten into the commentary box. I don't think I've every heard him talk! Apparently, Brad wants Andy in the net more, he's certainly doing so today. J very happy to have seen Becker "serving rockets" yesterday.

Martin to serve at 0-5

2nd serve (tight?) 0-15. DF looks like it.
2nd serve, so far hasn't managed to get a ball over the net!. 0-30, M slightly wide, trying to go for a winner.
30-30, A goes long.
40-30, A makes the self-same mistake. A clenches his fist.
2nd serve, don't think he's gotten a 1st in yet. deuce. M wide on the BHDL again too much.
ad A, super BHDL, not a winner, but set up the winner.
Jamie says the BHDL = A's best shot. have to say, I'd agree!
deuce2: good point from M, forces an error from A
ad A: very wild FH from M goes out. JM "he's overpressing"
deuce, A wide on return.
ad M: serve volley, A has to duck to avoid being hit by the volley - dirty tactics?
deuce: deep approach, M tries to lob, A puts smash away.
ad M, return just wide. (J: Andy'll be annoyed he's missed a few returns, he likes to be top of those stats!)
deuce: M goes wide.
ad A: M completely in control, A going side to side, A lobs. M gets the smash, and goes very wide!
game and first set. M goes long. Not happy. whacked the ball and is now trying to kill Andy (or possibly the umpire, or both) by looking at him.

Bagel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jamie, liking his new coach. Wants to play masters regualrly, so get up to 20/30. Wants to be in DC- thinks is ready for it, nasty question when John Lloyd is right there! Likes being able to travel with Andy, less lonely for them both. now he's off and I'll get back to the tennis itself...

15-0
30-0
40-0 (too busy listening to Jamie, see post above!)
40-15, good time to make a ue but that was bad. really whacked the FHDL and went extrememly long!
game. ace.

(1st set. 19ues M to 9A)

M serving at 06 01

0-15, good approach into net from M, but fails to get volley over the net. I'm feeling kinda sorry fro him, the little short guy (I can say that, I'm probably still a foot shorter than him).
0-30, M goes wide. He's making ues because he's desperately trying to go for that something extra. A just not letting it be enough ever.
15-30, A goes wide.
15-40, again M goes long looking for too much. He looks very dejected, Andy just letting him make the errors, looks like he could go on for days.
30-40, ace
game. M catches ball on his racket and sends it long.

Andy serving at 60 20

15-0, return out
30-0, ace
30-15, Andy sends a floating groundstroke wide, think he though the previous shot from M was wide. Oh well, he can afford to give a point away.
40-15, especially when he serve-volleys like that!
2nd serve: game. M out.

60 30

0-15
15-15
15-30 (Lloyd just said 'good chance here for a double break' stating the obvious a bit!)
15-40,
game.

Andy serving at 60 40

15-0
15-15
30-15
40-15
game. lovely camera angle on a great serve-volley from Andy, just picked the ball out the air and slammed it into the corner. All M could do was watch.

60 50.

Sorry I had to go off for a few minutes.

What was Djokovic's score? Two breadsticks or two bagels? (whatever it is, looks like Andy is trying to beat it )

Martin serving at 06 05

15-0, nada A could do, was off the court...(the crowd is getting behind the underdog now, were behind Andy when he came on court)
15-15, M goes just wide, overrule from chair.
15-30, lovely BHDL two'handed, completely disguised. court liked that!
15-40, Lloyd saying that Judy Murray got slightly sunburnt (ie is red as a beetroot) watching Mackin.
game and second set.

Commentators saying Andy playing 10/10 which personally I wouldn't agree with. Yes, he's leading 60 60 but he's not at his absolute best, he can serve better, he could cut out a few of the errors. Basically I'm trying to say that whats most exciting about the scoreline is that Andy isn't at his best, there is more to come. and hopefully that more will come as the tournament progresses.

Andy serving at 60 60

15-0
30-0
30-15, A hits the BHDL into the net. muppet!
40-15, M tries to hit a winner and fails. I really feel sorry for the guy now!
game. ace

60 60 10

Martin serving at 06 06 01 (Lloyd reminiscing about being 60 60 20 down against Connors, he feels sorry for Martin too.)

0-15, opens his shoulders too much and goes very wide, M trying everything but add to that how tight he must be, it's failing. I'm watching him self-destruct.
0-30, A gets a nasty net cord, M races to reach it, does but drop shots, A expects and gets there to whip the running FHDL from round your feet winner over the net. I'm sure they never taught that at school!
0-40
15-40, passing winner from M, cross-court, well disguised Andy (and I) though he was going for the DL so A dodged wrong way.
30-40, M comes to net and smashes a winner in
game. M goes wide after two great points. shame.

06 06 02

(last triple Bagel at Aussie = 1966 R. Russell won - don't remember who they said against)
