At last....

Draws: http://www.tenis-prerov.cz/docs/Prerov%20Draws.pdf

Pauffley was the only one to qualify. The sad part of it was that he ended up drawing Evans.
Barnes and Richo couldn't qualify. But the draws were really tough.

This is a great opportunity. It's a Grade 1 event but the field is a bit weak because of the Australian Open.

Second round:

The remaining matches have been played.

Daniel Evans [161] defeated fourth seed Frederic De Fays [74] of Belgium by 76 57 63.

What a great result for the boy! De Fays is two years older than him, has been inside the top 50 of Junior rankings and the most impressive thing of it all - has reached the quarter finals of a Futures on indoor carpet! Shows how good Evans is when there is a roof on top of his head...
De Fays actually took seven games off Bloomers on carpet as a 15 year old!!

Evans and Rice are through to the doubles quarters.

Third round matches:

David Rice [134] vs. qualifier Marek Budos [379] of Slovakia.
Marcus Willis [201] vs. qualifier Petr Michnev [438] of the Czech Republic.
Daniel Evans [161] vs. sixteenth seed Grigor Dimitrov [140] of Bulgaria.

Dimitrov is a brilliant prospect. He was the European Champion as a 14 year old and won both Eddie Herr and Orange Bowl 16s last year, even though he was underage. Hopefully he can't play on fast surfaces.

Nice one! If they keep this from up we could have 5 juniors in top 120 by Wimbledon!

Third round results:

I forgot to include Milton's match for some reason. My sincere apologies...

Joshua Milton [157] lost to Andrei Karatchenia [144] by 36 63 64.

Marcus Willis [201] lost to Petr Michnev [438] of the Czech Republic by 76 64.

David Rice [134] beat Marek Budos [379] of Slovakia by 60 20 retired.

Daniel Evans [161] beat sixteenth seed Grigor Dimitrov [140] of Bulgaria by 60 61.

That must be Evans' most convincing win in the last few years. I think that it is a combination of Dimitrov being rubbish on indoors and Dan's great skills on fast surfaces. Thrashing a world class Junior player (even though he is a year younger than Dan) must give him a lot of confidence. I am pretty sure of seeing him as a direct entry into Wimbly Juniors if he plays like this.

Dan and Rice are also through to the doubles semifinals.

Evans plays the biggest match of his life so far against the 17 year old Russian, Vladimir Karusevich, who is ranked 44 in the world.

Karusevic is playing the tennis of life, it seems. He won the Grade 2 event in Slovakia last week and dropped a single set in the process. And of course, he is into the finals here.
He doesn't have men's experience, which isn't a surprise because of the lesser and lesser number of Futures that are being played in Russia over the years.

Evans will be ranked around 55 in the world if he wins!!!! He'll be ahead of Cox, but meh.... I want both of them to do well.

All the good luck in the world to him for tomorrow.
No British boy (or girl), has one this big an event since Andy won the US Open.

It must have been over five hours ago. There was a doubles match after that.

Still no scores.

It'll be incredible if Evans can pull this one off somehow.

Oh no.
Evans lost in three sets.

Final:

Daniel Evans
[161] lost to Vladimir Karusevich [44] by 64 46 61.

It has been a great week for him in any case. He would have performed beyond expectations even if he had lost in the round of 16.
