Once again, one of my picks has lulled me into a false sense of security before self-destructing! Today's culprit is Seba Grosjean against Bandy. Why do they keep doing it?
(and btw, what happened to Bandy being ihjured and not going to last more than a round or two? LOL)

My first chance to log in since tuesday ... and i see i missed a chance to bask briefly in the glory of 1st place a couple of days ago. I'm going to have to count on the bottom half of the draw now as i think i only have 1 more possible point scoring match left in the top half. - so c'mon haas, davydenko, gonzalez, and of course andy! (and then andy to beat gonz in the quarters).
I'm not going to score again until the Haas/Mayer and Berdych/Tursunov matches have been played as otherwise I'm worried I'll score wrong. If anyone has major objections to that let me know and I might reconsider...

Checking the last 7 Australian Opens I noticed that the maximum number of top 16 seeds reaching the 4th round was 9. This year it will be between 12 and 14, so it is the first time this century when the safe option of picking the highest seeds has been a strong ploy.

So on that basis, I've been taking huge risks with my picks: That's me, the inveterate gambler!!
Got to say well done to Akhenaten and Andjmr they got the full 32 points for the 3rd round bottom half. Bravo! Secondly, got to say I'm feeling rather smug, being the only one to get 3/4 today. Most people had Gasquet beating Robredo, and Ljubicic being in the quarters. Oh and John desereves a mention for being the most patriotic/stupid amongst us, he had Mackin getting to the semis, and only being beaten by fellow countryman Mr. A. Murray, who of course goes on to beat Federer in the final. Bravo john, shame you didn't get the points for it Oh, and Fish caught us ALL off guard (I would've gotten 4/4 if Ferrer had won )

Woo! John seems to follow the same principle that I follow. Well done, John. It's all about showing your loyalty.
Well 11th to 8th then to 6th....mmmmm wont go much further i expect.....been a few shocks early on this year but lots of seeds left....as for John picking Mackin to the Semis
Well I can't win anymore points in the top half, but that's a healthy 24 points from the bottom half today .. if Andy had won it would have been a clean sweep!!
