I'm just waiting on the safin match and david's emai (hint hint) before doing the scores for today. (oh and my lecture but that's a minor detail )
Is everyone happy for me to score my own predictions or do you want someone else to do it? I have sent them to David , but it's really a question of whether you trust me not to cheat.
I've done pretty well today, I called the Fleishman, Lu, Querrey and Spadea matches (a product of too much rankings stuff as well, I now know who hasn't played in a while and who's a clay courter etc). I did have a few naff ones though, like Jones beating Gicquel.
Did anyone get Scrichaphan going out so easily? (I haven't looked yet)
And I lost out big time with Pim Pim retiring, I had him going till the third or fourth round I think. (same with Ljuby - though I did bet for Fish so mixed feelings on that!)
For anyone one not knowing how the scoring is:
0 points for any wrong predictions. 1 point for a correct predicition in round 1 2 points for a correct predicition in round 2 4 points for a correct predicition in round 3 8 points for a correct predicition in round 4 16 points for a correct predicition in quarter finals 32 points for a correct predicition in semi finals 64 points for a correct predicition in the final

Well just hoping for Safin to win to make a miserable first day....thanks Ljubo for losing me 100AMs and killing that part of the draw....I did go for Amer Delic to win right enough....so Safin to win to give me 22/32 for the first round.......
Only two people (RobC and myself) correctly predicted a Lu win over Gruel. Only two people (Akhenaten and myself) correctly predicted a Querrery win over Acasuso. No one expected Srichaphan to go out.
Three different people are predicted to win the Australian Open, Federer, Murray and Roddick. Three of us expect Federer to go out before the final, two to Roddick in the semi and the third to Djokovic in the 4th round. Davydenko, Blake, Roddick, Federer and Murray are the only ones felt to be good enough to reach the final.
If you're curious about any other matches/players let me know and I'll see what we think.

After all the shocks today, I can't believe only 3 points cover the top 10!
People who predicted a Querrey win must be well placed now - I had Acasuso going to R4. And as Rob implies, it could be quite critical where people had Ljubo going out. For me, it was the QFs, which is probably as far as anyone predicted him to go, I imagine.
If Andy wins, or even reaches the Final, I'll be so happy, I won't mind that those who picked him to do so beat me!
Looking at the draw, it's not hard to make a case for Andy being capable of reaching the Final - after all, Rafa is not on top form, he can beat Hewitt and so on. I just still don't think he's quite got it in him to go all the way yet - I'm guessing that if even he takes Rafa out, there'll be a dit of a 'down' in the match after that.
He also has three rounds to get through first of course - including a tricky looking R2.

I'm one of the ones who had him winning (beating Roddick in the final). I did all my predictions on a match-by-match basis and everyone he came up against I'm pretty sure he could beat. I don't have him playing Nadal, I have Nadal going out before then. The only match in my set up that I'm not sure Andy could win is against Blake. Of course having said that just because he can win the match doesn't mean he will and like you say I'm not sure he's ready/able to go the whole way yet. I just couldn't decide who he'd lose to! Like you say though, a long way to go yet.
Now, Rob in answer to the Ljubicic question: The furthest he was expected to get was sf (one person thought so). I'm the only one who had him going out before the 4th round (I'd thought he'd lose to Ferrer in the 3rd). Two people had him lose in the 4th round. Everyone else thought he'd get to the quarters and lose to Roddick.

Interestingly none of us have much enthusiasm for the chances of a certain number 2 seed. I'm pretty sure (this is from memory so sorry if I'm wrong, don't worry I'll make sure I'm right when scoring!) no one has him going beyond the 4th round, when he is seeded to come up against a certain Scottish lad...

I'm the one who had Jubo down to get to the semi's - where he was due to be beaten by Ancic (Ancic having seen off Safin, who in turn sees off Roddick).
What fun! I've learnt lots about so many players from checking the ATP site head-to-heads, early season form, hard-court track records, and whether they have been sliding down or moving up the rankings recently.
I had Lu down to beat Greul at first, due to his better start to the 2006 season, but wimped out and changed my mind because Greul beat him last time they played.
Hope I'm not boring everyone - ..I didn't realise I'd get so into it!

Not at all, I think we're all just as into it (I certainly am).
Doing the rankings has really taught me a lot about the different players, for example I picked Querrey to win as I've been watching him shoot up the rankings, and I know Acasuso hasn't played this year and wasn't in the best form at the end of last year. The head-to-head and player pages are really good on the ATP site, in my opinion.
