Aussie Open pick'em predictions competition

We did this for the US Open and I thought we could do the same thing for the Australian Open.

Steven was the US Open champion, who will reign down under !!

Basically, once the draw is released, you have to predict the winners of every single match from round 1 right through the the final, so you have a complete drawsheet. This all has to be done before the first round starts !

Points system:

* 1 (one) point for each correct prediction in the first round
* 2 (two) points for each correct prediction in the second round
* 4 (four) points for each correct prediction in the third round
* 8 (eight) points for each correct prediction in the quarterfinal round
* 16 (sixteen) points for each correct prediction in the semi-final round
* 32 (thirty-two) points for each correct prediction in the final round
* 0 (zero) points for each incorrect pick or segment left blank.

I'm going to advertise this competition on the new website, any ideas for a winner's prize ? Steven won a Murray-Hewitt DVD for winning the US Open. I thought of buying Murray v Federer

That's a great idea David. When does the new website 'go live'? (is that the right terminology?)

I'm happy to be the person everyone sends their predictions to if you want.

The new website will go "live" sometime next week, it was planned to be this week but Arka has been unwell and so unable to help.

Not too much left to do now before it's ready; just some more profiles, upload the page banners when Drew sends them, update a few pages and do rankings and competitions stuff.

We ended up having the results from the last time scored by different people in different ways...it was fairly eratic and we had several days when one list of scores was up and the other wasnt.

Can I suggest that we all have to work to a xls spreadsheet. Dont care which one / who does it just as long as everyone who signs up knows that it is part fo the game to use the template. It makes for easier scoring for the scorer(s).

So each player would have to submit their prediction-template by a certain date or they are not included.

Thoughts anyone ?

Good plan Drew. Can we use the one you made for the US again? That seemed to work and it was easy just to email it out to everyone.

Like I said further up I'm happy to do the scoring and I should be able to do it everyday (i'll be away for the weekend before but it doesn't start till Monday, does it?)

Hi. Hope y'all had a great christmas!

I'd like to play but can't open xls documents

Any chance I could just send someone a text document of my predictions and they could transfer it for me???

Is this competition still going to happen? If so, I'd like to take part, but this thread's gone very quiet so I don't want to spend lots of time making picks unless it's definitely going ahead.

I'll also try to come up with a prize - perhaps I could pass that Murray-Hewitt DVD on to the new winner for a start? (seems fair)
