RE: Boys: Loy Yang Power Traralgon International - ITF Grade 1 - 2007.

Dyce will need to play his best ever match to win against Eysseric. Eysseric was sick in Mexico and his first round result isn't that impressive; maybe there will be an upset.

He has an official site (already):

http://www.jonathaneysseric.com/

Dan's task is also incredibly difficult.
He faces world number 13 Matteo Trevisan of Italy. Trevisan also has two men's ranking points from playing just four Futures.

BOOOOOOOOOOM! GET IN LADS

Let's keep it going all the way through to Aus Open. Hoping for a big run from one of these two there, particularly Dyce.

Cox gave a brave fight but lost in the end - 36 63 75.

Dyce won 1 and 2.

Blimey, on this form do you reckon Dyce would have a chance to win Aussie Open?

Hmmm..... he is one of the most inconsistent players out there, in my opinion. He defeated the player who will be the world number one and he also lost to someone ranked outside the top 500 in Mexico.

At this moment, neither Dan or Dyce can win a Slam without remarkable improvement. They will need to work incredibly hard to get there.

Dan's loss is sad but he was playing someone ranked much higher and a year older than him. No shame in losing to a better player.
He says that he didn't play well today. That's a good thing because he came really close to winning it even then.

The doubles matches were rained off. I hope that Dan will pick some points there.

Great result for young Dyce !!!

Next round : QF : Graeme Dyce (GBR) v Thomas Fabbiano (9) (ITA)

Another tough match as Fabbiano is ranked 14 in the world !

If he wins then he would to beat the 12th or 14th seed to reach the final

Dyce is playing tennis the best tennis of his life. They beat the third seed in round one of doubles.

Dan and Lazare annihilated their opponents at 60 61.

Dan is playing in the consolation draw. He won his match comfortably with a scoreline of 76 61.

Whats a consolation draw?

Well done to Dyce, good to see him string a few wins together, hopefully this is the start of a good and consistent year from him.

Consolation draw is a mini tournament played alongside the main one. The draw is made up of the players who lost in the main draw. In this case, it is made up of the first and second round losers.

The purpose is usually to give some match practice and exposure to the players. Ranking points aren't on offer in ITF consolation draws. I believe that some ranking points are given in Tennis Europe 16s and 14s consolation draws.

I hope that Dyce will continue playing like this for the rest of the year. It's difficult to become a top pro unless you crack the top 10 in Juniors and it's almost impossible unless you crack the top 20. The only British players to have reached the top 10 since combined rankings were introduced in 2004 are Andy and Baker, I believe.
I think that Dyce and Dan have a good chance of doing it. Dan has another twenty three months of Junior tennis left!

Dyce lost 3 and 3. It has been a great week. And we still have doubles to look forward to.

Daniel lost 3 and 1 to a guy ranked 62 in the consolation.

I don't relly know, but I think that Dan could have tanked this match. Honestly.... you must be dumb to try to reach the finals of a tournament where you don't gain anything - money or points - when you have a tournament the very next week. It's possible that he or his coach decided that he had had enough match practice and it would be good to end it quickly. Hopefully not.
