Murray named LTA player of the year

Andy has been unsurprisingly voted LTA player of the year, for the 2nd year running.

Naomi Cavaday took the junior player of the year title

Peter Norfolk won the disabled player of the year award

The most predictable awards ceremony in the world, where all three awards were obvious from the moment the nominations were announced.

But at times these awards are difficult to judge. Nadal was judged as the European Player of the Year ahead of Federer this time.

Congrats to Andy, Naomi, and Peter.
Hopefully there will be loads of contenders next time.

Andy and Naomi were the right choices, all the over nominees had really great years but none of them could really challenge Andy and Naomi for the titles.

Naomi did come close to actually winning the senior title aswell but Andy just got the extra votes in the end.

It was quite ridiculous that Boggo wasn't nominated in the senior category after the year he's had and I dunno why Dan Evans was nominated ahead of Dan Cox

I agree, here's hoping for lots of contenders for all 3 awards in 2007

the lta awards are really a farce in most cases, just an excuse for a black tie bash at wimby, i have been to them once a few years back and it wasnt very impressive, ended up sitting next to a batty old lady who couldnt seem to grasp i wasn't a pro-tennis player myself - eventualy i said i had a bad kneee injury when i was younegr which stopped me playing :)

this is very surprising, i wonder what criteris they judged it on, obvuisly no that cat the nadla has 1 slam and federe has 3 plus the YEC this year

i guess they thought fed wins too much.
