Just to respond to the question that the title of this thread poses....

All parties, The Murrays, WSM sport and Aberdeen Council want this to happen again. I think some of the papers are making more of this than there actually was.

* The AC suits Andys schedule. He said that.
* He personally wants big events in Scotand and even though he would rather have an ATP event he knows that is someway off. In the menatime even if he got into the top 10 he would play the AC.
* The format may change. Even the ticket prices may change but the Murrays are on some sort of quest to bring tennis to the forefront in Scotland.
* Scotland v ????? Andy was asked about possible future oppenents specifically Nadal and Andy replied "Im sure he would love to come and play....just have to talk to him...."

I would go and watch a 'Scotland v Europe' team. I feel the mixed doubles would have to make way for another singles match.

Could be something like this...

Europe Team - Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Michael Llodra (D), Mary Pearce
Scotland Team - Andy Murray, Jamie Baker, Jamie Murray(D), Elena Baltacha

Saturday :

Baker v Nadal
Girls Junior Singles Challenge (1 set)
A Murray / J Murray v Nadal / Llodra
Baltacha v Pearce
Murray v Djokovic

Sunday :

J Murray / Baltacha v Llodra / Pearce

Yesyesbadboy, the only reason we mentioned Boggo in this section is because we're discussing the future of the Aberdeen Cup. In a couple of years time, maybe even next year if Henman can't be persuaded to play, Boggo will be the man facing Murray on both days if the format stays the same.

Most of the discussion in this section is Andy Murray related...every thread is about him, his matches or schedule etc

It's good to have a bit of controversy initiated into discussions, can make for a more interesting debate, however there is a difference between doing that and winding people up by deliberately attacking a player - Boggo in this instance. Many people here [like me] are big fans of him and getting at him is a sore point as he alreadys cops a lot of unwarranted stick from the press. That's why posters [including me] responded as we did.

Yesyesbadboy, you are most welcome to stay on this site, you've provided quite a few interesting news items which we wouldn't have found otherwise and it is good to have some controversy in debates [as you say it does add more interest]. However, that does have to be measured and I would also be most grateful if you deferred from insulting other members like John. Calling people sad, idiots etc etc does nothing for the community of the site and will only turn people against you. If you disagree with someone, that's ok - message boards are for debate but it's best to put your case across constructively with facts rather than using emotive language.

what does everyone think about the idea of a mini-DC match over the weekend for the Aberdeen Cup - so lets say GB v Spain:

If we had Murray and Henman it could go

Sat:

Henman v Robredo

Cavaday v top Spanish girl

Auckland/J Murray v Ferrer/Lopez

Keothavong v Medina Garrigues

Murray v Nadal

Sun:

Cox v top Spanish boy

Henman v Nadal

J Murray/Baltacha v Lopez/Ruano Pascual

Murray v Robredo

Now that would be a cracker of a match...we'd win both junior matches, Murray and Henman could win 1 each - maybe 1 can upset Nadal on a fast indoor surface, Medina Garrugues would beat Keothavong [maybe Bally would be a better choice on a fast court] but the doubles would be all to play for. Could come down to Murray-Robredo on the Sunday night

The only thing that confuses me about this thread is why David continues to give this guy sensible responses. yesyes, you make no sense. You reckon that you are "entitled" to not like a player and have an opinion on whether he will "make it" even though you don't follow his results or matches. This forum is for all of British tennis including the lower levels players and if that infuriates you so much maybe you shouldn't be here??

You claim to want sensible debate yet then go on the rampage calling people idiots and stupid etc. I have no problem with constructive criticism, but that is not what you offered, you simply spouted abuse towards a player you freely admit to knowing nothing about.

Can't even be bothered to entertain you with any further response.

Having Scotland playing against a major nation would be coup. but are players such as nadal and blake are prepared to play an exhibiton event towards the end of the season. also, you would have to think of apperance fees as well which would be alot.

Off the AC, you know the appearance fees do they really allow players to accept fees in order to play in a tournament, even though there is prize money available to the players!
