Ofc it won't be Andy that will need to do something to make this a reality. As ofc his high profile within the game can help but only to a certain extent. As the only place in Scotland that could hold such an event is Craiglockhart in Edinburgh. So unless there's some funding from the likes of the LTA and maybe some lobbying in the Scottish Parliment from the likes of the Scottish Executive and some bodies than this kind of thing is far off from happening.
It would be very great for such a thing to happen here as I'd gladly go to it, but it will be many a year before anything will come into fruition.

Supporting Andy Murrays charge to the 2009 Wimbledon crown.
We must remember that all those noble intentions like "progress of tennis", "reaching to the masses" etc. are rubbish. The ATP is interested in just one thing - money.
I live in a country where tennis is a real minority sport. My parents have no idea about who Rafael Nadal is (forget Andy Murray), and I'd eat my shoes if there are more than five people in my department at uni who can name five top ten players.
And yet.... we have two Tour events!! Where as countries like Belgium have to do without one. The simple reason is that a lot of revenue can be generated here, which isn't the case in a small(er) country like Belgium or a country with an economy like Argentina has.
If the ATP can be convinced that it will be profitable, they will surely listen.

Scheduling will be a problem....

A tour event in Scotland would be fantastic, I think they deserve it! Its a shame we couldn't move the Nottingham grass tournament up there. But I am sure the Dutch would love their own tour event, tennis is quite a big sport there and they are a relatively rich nation. Andy would be a great front man to lainch a scottish event, but I think it would take a lot of political will (and money) from the Scottisih assembly to make it happen. This is not impossible, the Scots are a pround bunch, and their own tournament would help them claim Andy as their own and put one over the auld enemy. London used to have an indoor event in October/ November, they had it in a tent in Battersea park once. I think this event fizzled out because it was not making any money.
What country are you from, Greenleaf? Its an good quiz question, you have two tour events but the nation doesn't play much tennis.....
