I asked 'hows the ankle' - AM : 'is okay but these courts are dangerous (yes he said that) and not enough room at the back...i stood on one of the boards...not good'
Q - 'glad to have won' - AM 'yeah it was good but the fast courts make doubles harder to play...not many long rallies...rather it was more entertaining'
Q - 'do you thing the AC can continue next year' - AM 'yeah but things may have to change'
Q - 'like what' - AM 'ticket prices...too high...its hard to promote tennis is scotland and it costs alot to come here over £150 for a family including food etc....dont like the middle class image of tennis...really want to help change that'
i asked 'my local sports centre has mini-tennis for the first time...that is down to your sucess...is this whay you want to see more of...open courts for kids...?'
AM : 'absolutely...really want to help bring tennis to youngsters of all ages....hated seeing courts locked up at weekend when i was a kid... not good and i want to help change that'
After the PC......
Tom Maidment WSM Sports - promoters response to Andys comment that ticket prices are too high especially for kids.
"These types of events are not cheap and players are expensive so it is not easy just to lower prices"
Basically I think between Andy's camp and the promoters will have to get together to work out something for next year...maybe Andy will have to take less money along with the otehr players...thats what the press in here think anyway.
"Disappointed to loose but apart from my first service game i played pretty well and served okay"
me : 'feeling tired' - GR : 'no im fine and looking forward to beating Andy...if Andy will let me (AM 'okay then') - GR : 'better not say that unless we will get into trouble with the bookmakers'
q : 'the 4 on court is the DC team is it not....what do you think?'
GR : 'yeah james and jamie are playing well in doubles and so is andy'
I have a question. It's specially for our Scottish members.
What would you people choose, if you were given the choice between the Aberdeen Cup and a big money Challenger in Scotland in place of the Aberdeen Cup?
A question for the Scottish players...did you find that having home support was a key factor in you winning several close matches which could have gone either way eg: some of the junior matches and the mens doubles ? Did you feel that gave you an extra edge at the key moments ?

I think that Bally will be up after they finish so will ask her then....
As for the ticket prices, I do think they need to do something about it. I looked into going last year, and not only did it cost the earth to get up to Scotland, from Newbury (south of England) by any means of transport, it also took far too long. By train I think was the longest being only 24hrs. There was no way I could afford it.

I asked Jamie...defo he said it helps in all the tighter matches....he really enjoyed this weekend...got some hot news on Jamie...will post his last PC notes in a bit...!
PC just finished...going to post it in full later on...im knackered !!!
Some points :
* Andy wants to face Nadal next year hopefully on a american hard court...not clay * Greg would love to play next year but 12mts is a long time away... * Jamie Murray has teamed up with Louis Kayer ex DC captain of Canada. Coached the likes of Erlich and Ram / Knowles & Nestor. Been getting coached by him for the last 2 mths...going to be with him over the next while. * Andy not disclosing his ranking goal for 2007...just in case he gets injured or something ???
Great weekend tennis-wise! Congrats to the Scots and commiserations to the English camp. i think it was expected that Scots were going to win the AC but to thrash the Auld Enemy was not on my predicitons! Nevertheless, a good weekend all round.
I would like to say many many thanks to Drew with his 'interactive'(i.e.laptop!) coverage of the AC, ever thought of taking a career in journalism Drew!!
