RE: Andy's Competitors week 44 - Paris Masters

Paris last year. He qualified (15pts) and got to round 3 (another 75 pts)

so if he beats Chela he will be in the top 16 likely at the start of next season?

I've updated the table for Andy's win. The Gasquet result will have to wait for tomorrow.

Andy overtakes Hewitt and Stepanek  to climb back to  WR 17.

Gonzalez, Djokovic, Grosjean and Vliegen are knocked out

Niemenen, Hrbaty and Ancic (off the top of the table) advance.

Next up tonight, while I sleep, is Gasquet vs Wawrinka:  time for the Swiss to show that he can step up to the big occasion! If Gasquet wins, he's back to 5 points behind Andy

Not yet: he'll need to win the next match & overtake Djoko for that.

And if we can persuade Nieminen to lose his next match then Andy'll move up to 15.

6-1 in the 2nd - at 5-0, it looked like he might end up with exactly the same set scores as Andy.

First post edited accordingly. That's a bad end to Wawrinka's great run of form.

Davydenko's just shown, convincingly, who's the top Russian dog: He beat Tursunov 2 & 2, and climbs past Roddick to WR3.

So, there's just Gasquet, Hrbaty and Safin who can overtake Andy if he goes out today. Hrbaty & Safin both need to win the tournament to overtake. Gasquet just needs to win one more match than Andy does.

Gasquet & Safin face each other today. And, of course, Andy faces Hrbaty.

Blake just went out to Haas  4 & 2. I guess that opens Andy's half out even further

The Shed warrior, Gabashvili has just taken the first set off NieminenUSM, d'you fancy making any rash promises about the result of this match?

Gabashvili has been spured on by these comments made by USM and is in some form to keep him in the shed

Apparently Sky Sports - I don't have it myself but there are reports on other forums from those who have.

Come on, Andy, beat the hole-y shirt man, you have a great chance at least as far as the semis (where Safin may well lurk in wait)
