The main thing to note is that Gasquet, who missed Paris last year, is just 5 points behind Andy with the win in Lyon under his belt.

Meanwhile Berdych, Stepanek, Hrbaty and Wawrinka lose places because of points they are defending from last year.

I've just read this:

The rule for the Tennis Masters Cup and the entry rankings is as follows: "The Entry System period is the immediate past 52 weeks, except for the Tennis Masters Cup, which is droppedon the Monday following the last ATP event of the following year."

 - so there'll be some changes to the table once I've checked what the points for the masters cup were.

I think:

Federer loses 500 entry pts
Nalbandian loses 650 entry
Gonzo loses 100 entry pts
Ljubicic loses 100 entry pts
Davydenko loses 300 entry pts
Gaudio loses 200 entry pts

It only affects Gaudio among Andy's competitors: he dives down to 30th.

Andy has the chance to gain a maximum of 7 places this week. That would require him to win the tournament, and the following to go out before they get beyond his reach (what round that is)

Nieminen (3)
Djokovic (final)
Ferrer (semis)
Berdych (quarters)
Haas (3)

A hold truck full of people can overtake Andy this week as so many points are on offer. Priority for the pins though is Gasquet who, as Rob said, is only 5 points behind and so need win only one more match than Andy to overtake.

Tursunov, Soderling and Acasuso are next on the list and I'll add more to it after Andy's first match when we know where things stand.

Because Andy has a bye first round his first match is crucial as it is basically worth 70 points. so mega pins into both Chela and Srichphan so nether of them have a chance!

Absolutely, we might as well be realistic about Andy's chances.

Quite a day for the crowd behind Andy (Only Ferrer and Davydenko have played above him, Davydenko double bagelling Christophe Rochus).

Soderling and Almagro  join Acasuso on the bus home.

Tursunov, Safin, Grosjean and Wawrinka advance

Tomorrow sees Andy's match against Chela, and also Djokovic vs Mathieu, Niemenen  vs  Bracciali and Gasquet vs Wawrinka.

I think you all know what you have to do!

The pins didn't work on Nieminen, but Djokovic bites the dust, beaten in two TB sets by Mathieu.

If Andy wins tonight he will be only 10 points behind Novak.
