Andy really paid in that game in the end for a couple of lapses of concentration, a couple of errors and a double fault

L serving:

0-15: L just misses going down the line

15-15: Big first serve, Andy can't get it back in play

30-15: 2nd serve, Andy hits the return long

L holds to 30. The beeb reporter appears to have given up in digust and hasn't added anything since the first game of the second set.


Andy needs a quick hold here to get the momentum back.

Uh-oh - Ljubicic, stung by the loss of the first set, fights back and takes Murray to deuce three times before snatching the break when Murray mis-hits another drop-shot. Brad Gilbert shoes not a flicker of emotionin his seat high in the grandstand. His face, lit from below by the court lights, would not look out of place on the cover of the "Beatles For Sale" LP.

Murray 0-3 Ljubicic
Trouble - Loobers is now in full flight, and his serve is back in the groove. Murray needs to hold his serve now to stop the rot. As the players rest at the changeover, Loobers sits motionless, staring into the middle distance as if he's been hypnotised.


Murray 1-3 Ljubicic
Excellent reposte from Murray. He moves Ljubicic around the court andcompletely out-foxes him with his range of shots before taking the game with a lovely top-spin backhand lob.


40-15 to Lj, come on Andy a bit more pressure at least.

And he holds to 30. He went 15-30 down with a double fault but clawed it back from there. However, he really needs to up his first serve percentage again.

Two aces (one on second serve) allow L to hold. Andy serving to stay in the set at *2-5


beeb has finally added some updates:


Murray 1-4 Ljubicic
Ljubicic raises to 40-0, only to lose concentration and let Murray creep back to deuce. But Murray then completely mis-hits a drop-shot - again - and Ljubicic puts him away.


Murray 2-4 Ljubicic
Murray stays in the set as he forces Ljubicic wide on both sides with his serve. The line judges here are decked out in very non-Wimbledon attire - chinos and stripey rugby shirts.

The cat came to sit on my knee and was in great danger of having her ear chewed - but Andy claws his way back from set points down to hold for 3-5. Phew.

At 0-30 down Andy hit a double fault to give L three set points.


Saved the first with what must have been a very brave second serve ace

Hopefully Andy was just toying with him so that L is now disheartened at missing those set points and loses serve.

Murray 2-5 Ljubicic
Murray just can't get close to a break of the Ljubicic serve at the moment. The Croation booms one straight down the middle to move closer to levelling the match - he's now hit over 865 aces this year.
