Q. How good is it to have Tim in the last 16 as well, two British players? Pretty good? Just the fact that I'm not sure we perhaps would have waged a lot of money on two British players being in the last 16.
ANDY MURRAY: Why not.

Q. Well, wild card and a young chap. It's great though, isn't it? It would be great for the game.
ANDY MURRAY: Well, it's obviously good when you have British players winning. If we can have weeks where British guys are winning challenges and matches and winning matches in ATP tournaments, it's great for tennis. Two weeks ago or maybe last week Richard Bloomfield made semi finals in the Challenger. That wasn't happening until maybe three or four months ago. And now you've got guys who are starting to win matches in Challengers.
Obviously Tim is starting to play much better. I think I said that maybe a few months ago I felt like Tim if he starts playing like he was in practice, he's for sure a Top‑20 player. He's that good, and he gives guys problems all the time. It's great that he's playing well again. He's not a number 40 player in the world. He's better than that. And I'm sure he'll continue in this form and he'll get his ranking back.

Agree about the just a big first serve comments as well. Saw Ljubo in Livepool 2005 and he wasn't that impressive!

It was a great win. :) He played so well. His returning game was spot on, and although he maybe used the drop at a few inappropritae moments (for a wee change) for the most parts his tactics were spot on. There was a wee sticky spell in the second set where he couldn't buy a first serve again, but for the most part he served really well. It was a really mature, confident performance against a top drawer player who is bang on form.

i think its likely that they will put the evening matches on SSX, they did it at rome when murray was playing volandri at night. also, the Sky Sports got rights to the tournament so they can do what they to ensure murray match is live.


What a win for andy. i watched the 1st set, and i loved the game when he broke to lead 5-4, he showed all his weapons especially his forhand. when he drove his forehand into the forehand side of Lujbo, the Croat frozed! and let the ball limp towards his side of the net!!Classic murray! But i had to go when murray was 3-0 down in the second set, but to hear that he won put a smile on my face. Just shows the determination that he already has to beat better players. and like i said prior to the start of the tournament, andy won because he had the advantage in winning an extra match (and same for tim!)


On to Djokovic, pity i wont watch it live, but ill try and follow it here. Thats going to be a cracking match, playing each other for the first time on the ATP (unless im mistaken). i hope this DUEL will be a great contest.
