I don't know if this will be the easy match veryone is predicting. I remember watching Navarro Pastor at Queens (on TV mind) and he was quite a good player on grass, which means his movement is good, and he had a pretty hot serve as well. He served 9 aces in his final qualifying match here and is warmed up on the surface.
Havimng said that I'm still expecting Andy to win in two!!
Thanks for the info on his game, that sounds as it Pastor could be a little tricky for Andy, big servers are difficult to play on the Madrid courts as it's at altitude so the ball really flies through the air and really shoots off the court. Andy's been in Madrid for a week so he's had a lot of time to get used to things which is vital as lots of players do struggle to adapt to the conditions.
A. Well it’s at altitude so it’s good to get here early because the ball moves much faster here. When you catch the ball late it goes long most of the time.
Q. Who are the main players in the draw?
A. Federer, Nadal, Roddick, me. Ha! just kidding.
Q. Good training week last week? Who did you hit with etc?
A. It was good…. I was playing really well, serving great, hitting the ball about 20 percent harder from the baseline and coming in a bit so I’m looking forward to playing now that I’m well rested. I struggled a bit in Asia to get used to the conditions as I came straight from Davis Cup but I helped out my brother a lot which was very important to me.

Nope. Srichaphan has beaten Fraile 2 and 2, so Andy's up next.
I'm probably going to be unable to follow the match so would be v grateful if someone can provide score updates so I can read through the match as it happened later.
I thought I saw him at Queens but just checked the results from there and it appears he wasn't there so I must have been dreaming or something. Please fell free to ignore what I wrote about him. Really weird. I was sure I'd watched him play there...
UBF, I'm just going to get a shower. When I get back I shall give point by point.
