RE: ATP Tokyo rd1: Murray/Murray v Butorac/Parrott

Great showing from the lads. Jamie is bound to be playing at the Aussie Open now!

.....and so on - no stats for JM & TP tho.

Maybe those stats are for both Andy and Jamie and Butorac and Parrott but they just haven't bothered to put that. That would kind of make sense.

If that's the case, that's absolutely phenomenal serving from the Murrays, 88% is amazing !!! Only having to hit 4 2nd serve throughout an entire match is superb. No wonder they were holding so easily !

Next up in rd2 is likely to be the 2nd seeded Germans Michael Kohlmann and Alex Waske who play Americans Paul Goldstein and Jim Thomas in rd1

Jamie'll have gained at least 35. I think his 18th is a 5. Unfortunately the ATP site doesn't provide a nice easy breakdown for doubles.

Their First serve percentage for the match was actually 85% still really good though I think those stats you had was for the first set only their 1st serve went down to a measily 79% in the 2nd (LOL!)

they also saved 3/4 bps (all in the 1st), 73% first serve points won, 50% second serve.

40% 1st service returns won, 39% 2nd serve returns won

69% total service points won

approx 40% total returns won.

53% won of total points.

looks like basically they played the big points better and raised their game in the second set.

Scoreboard stuck at 63 45. Its 5 in Tokyo. It may be raining or something.

We'll have to wait to find out who Andy and Jamies second round opponents will be

Lets hope this can turn into a bit of a battle and push them up into the top 50!

Pretty impressive serving, hopefully Andy can now translate that to his singles game. If they keep serving like that they'll be tough to beat as they're always going to have quite a few chances to break with Andy's returning skills and Jamie's anticipation and touch at the net.

Goldstein and Thomas have just broke serve at 5-5.  They're now serving for the match at 6-5:-

0-15

15-15

30-15

40-15

40-30

40-40

K/W break back, it's now a 2nd set tie-break.

Goldstein/Thomas won 7-4 in the tie-break, and will now face Andy and Jamie in round 2.  Kohlmann/Waske are a good partership, and were the 2nd seeds, so I would now expect G/T to be difficult to get past, but I think the brothers will manage it... just.
