bump. first post has been updated (had to use mtf cos of technical issues on steveg)

Stepanek withdrew.

Wont make a differnece to whether andy is seeded or not cos i think with him withdrawing from Basel and djokovic overtaking him he'll be ranked somehting like 18-19 when the seedings happen.

will need a few more withdrawals yet for that to happen i think

Are you sure, MKK? He was ranked 17 this Monday, and that is the rankings used for seedings surely? The draw will be out this weekend before the next rankings.

I don't know if it is official but it is certainly very widely rumoured. The steveg site seems to be down, so I can't check there, but Neil Harman (I recognise the name, doesn't he write for one of the papers?) says on British Tennis Zone that he has accepted one.

AND I have just checked Henman's official website - Paris is on his schedule

Bet the French are annoyed with Tim getting one of the 3 wildcards.
They've got 6 players just missing the cut, and they give one to a Brit. Hehe.

ALT list
3. Simon, Gilles FRA 46
6. Benneteau, Julien FRA 49
8. Santoro, Fabrice FRA 51
9. Mathieu, Paul-Henri FRA 52
11. Clement, Arnaud FRA 54
12. Serra, Florent FRA 55

A bucketload of withdrawals, courtesy of MTF as the steveg site is still down (or down again).

Benneteau was one of the 3 Frenchmen rumoured to have been given wildcards; he is now in on direct acceptance, so there is still hope for Henman. For those not keeping up with rumours, Tim was rumoured to have been given one then rumoured not to have one as all three were given to Frenchmen. . .so now the door may be open for him again. . .

yeah heard jonathan overend on five live before saying today's match was tim's last for the season as he's not getting a WC! though other sources seem to suggest he is!

the fact that he is a former champion must work in his favour!

really think he can get into top 32 if he plays in paris

ps why are there so many tounies in france?!

i dont know the exact reason. i think its do with the number of players(incl. women) established in the top 100, so many tournies are played to give the fans more opportunities to see the top french players on a regular basis, its the same with the usa, spain, belguim and spain. had we had at least 6 brits in the top 100, then we would have hosted more tournies than just queens as well as other grass court tournies.

Intriguingly, in the report on the Wawrinka match on Tigger's own site, it says:

"The defeat more than likely ends Henman's year unless he is granted a surprise wild card into the Paris Masters, which begins on Monday."

Recent withdrawals from Ljubicic, Roddick and Baghdatis means Andy is up to 13th seed!
