Bit of a disaster points-wise for Andy but although I'm very disappointed for him, I'm also happy for Henman as he's been playing well all summer but since Queens his draws have been horrendous.
I was going to tell Andy to get himself off to Tokyo and get acclimatised, but he has to stay to play doubles, doesn't he.
I blame the Davis Cup, honestly. I said before the match I was worried about the change from slow clay to fast carpet, with little time even to get there let alone get acclimatised.
Murray 4-6 2-6 Henman There is still plenty of fight from Murray and a forehand pass down the line shows what he is capable of - shame he did not do more of that earlier. Henman is not fazed and a sublime drop shot completes an impressive and deserved victory.
Murray 4-6 2-5 Henman Murray has no trouble in holding his serve. Henman could be saving himself for the next game where he will serve for the match.
Me too, and it's somewhat ironic that Tim gets the benefit from his decision not to play DC for GB by beating someone who is clearly suffering the effects from having just done so.

It's good that he's playing doubles, should get him more used to the courts ahead of Tokyo where he could do with a good run to reclaim some of those lost Bangkok points. Also he's defending qf pts from Mons next week.
I agree, going from clay to indoor acrylic was always going to be really difficult especially against someone like Tim. Andy wasn't going to be able to rally his way into the match [like he could have done v a clay-courter]; and get used to the courts through hitting lots of balls, the points were always going to be short and sharp with both players being aggressive and Tim mixing things up and putting Andy under pressure with net approaches.
Ironically Andy actually served extremely well getting 67% 1st serves in. However, Henman's returning was top-notch and Andy only won 62% of the points on his 1st serve which is relatively low. He only won 42% points on his 2nd serve.
Henman served at 63%, and won 70% pts on 1st serve and 50% on 2nd serve.
Crucially, Tim was the one who took his chances, winning 6/7 bps, while Andy took 2 out of 6 chances
watched the last set (i though it was going to start at half 10!). henman played really well, he deserve the win for this time only! murray will be annoyed with himself in giving more effort in the 2nd set.
on SS2, chris bailey said that he caught a flight from budapest or frankfurt before landing in thailand YESTERDAY!
i think the boggo-henman match will be interesting, imo i would like boggo to win so he can show what he really capable of to make the top 100.
I'm pretty sure Chris Bailey must have got that wrong, Murray left Odessa for Budapest at Sunday lunchtime, it couldn't have taken a whole 48 hours to get from there to Thailand.
How was Henman playing Vik ? Was he really attacking the Murray 2nd serve and chip-charging ? Did Andy struggle with his passing shots today ? Where did you think Andy went wrong in the match, did he make too many errors or was he maybe too passive ?
one word-agressive. henman was dictating play, while murray was on the defence. henman played well to his standards, but murray made quite a few mistakes and was getting frustrated as the match came to a close. murray made a decent passing shot from a chip and charge from henman, but other than that murray was not at his best. Come next monday, he will have enough to get used to the tokyo surface, is that surface fast like bangkok?
