Im with Zara for this one

hehe. Only because she has done absolutely FANTASTICALLY this year and I think she really deserves it. I think that to win, you really need to have won something big! I am sure Andy's will get it in his own time, but wait til he has won a grandslam or something.

Even if I wasn't an eventer myself, someone being both world and european champion would get my vote!

However I agree eventing is a minority sport so this will greatly affect things. Take Paula Radclife and Kelly Holmes for example, they are both heroes and are much more well known than Zara, even if she is royalty! Personally I am not sure how things will go, David Walliams did great, but I don't think he really should get it as he isn't a sports personality!

But we will see I guess!

I have to agree with our 'SHOUTING' friend above....Darrens 3 wins from 3 in the context of his wifes recent death will win by a mile...Andys turn will come.

i find it funny how pepole define capitals as shouting WHAT IS WRONG WITH CAPITALS, LOOOOL, can anyone get the fulldraw, i got an exclusive from my mate who is in thailand and was at the caremony draw thats why my post was up henman murray b4 most knew but the thai webpage is crap so i cant get fulldraw

Had we won the world cup it would've been a bit different, so yo'r going to have to look at other major sporting successes, I'd have to agree with Darren Clarke too, the Ryder cup was a big thing this year, 3 wins on the trot, He's got the story to go with it, it's a vote winner.

As for next year, Greg will undoubtable play wimbledon for the last time, only to succomb to Boggo in the final, then it'll be very tough to call.

It's pretty poor that Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson aren't in the shortlist, they've had an incredible year in badminton, winning the world championship, commonwealth gold and the all england title. They've now won every major gold medal there is to be one apart from the Olympics.

I think Zara Phillips should win, Darren Clarke will do because of his story and his incredible performance in the Ryder cup but if he hadn't had such a tragedy occur to him, he wouldn't even be considered

hi janet...RJA is not being racist honestly...just stating an opinion that being a scot may count against him in a public vote where 90% of the potential voters are non-scots....as a scot i agree it is great to be so...RJA is a regular poster and a big murray fan.

She won a major title so she`s done more than, say, David Walliams. As impressive as his swimming the Channel was, it was hardly a major sporting event.
