RE: Andy Murray Vs. N.Davydenko [RUS] (7)

Sky seem to be desperate for an Andy vs Brad stand-up fight. Andy was shouting at himself 'when you hit the ball there he's crushing it' and 'every shot I hit is going long' - he certainly wasn't shoutint Brad. He was definitely being too hard on himself (guess that's the curse of being a perfectionist) but he wasn't slagging off Brad.

Andy's timing was off today - he just didn't look that comfortable. i don't know if he was showing Davydenko too much respect or it was just that his timing was so badly off that he was scared to go for his shots, but it showed in how he was letting Davydenko push him around out there. The rain delay is a blessing because I still think Andy can win this (even though I picked Davydenko in 4 before the match), he just needs to play better and I think he will when they come out tomorrow or Thursday. I think he's a better player than Davydenko - I just think he's getting lured into playing a game that suits Davydenko.

Did any of you hear Barry Cowan's theory that Andy is 'scared' to win the match like he was against Bagdahtis? Not sure I agree with it to be honest but it's an interesting suggestion.

For what its worth i dont think Andy is Scared of anything on a tennis court...he knows his limits sure but never scared.

I have to agree - if he wasn't scared of beating Federer, or Henman, or Roddick, or Moya, or Hewitt then I don't think he'd be scared of getting to a Slam QF against a guy like Davydenko who had been less than complimentary about him.

Just seemed like a strange thing to say and something I could see people picking up on.

Madeline I know that, I just meant don't be depressed because he will have a better game plan later/tommorow and so it won't matter how he played today. I for one think he isnt getting davydenko to the net often enough and should have more length on his groundstrokes.

Don't you know I have been dubbed "Mrs Pessimism"?

The good thing about being a pessimist, you are never disappointed.

They also say you should always borrow money from a pessimist - they never expect it back.

Resizing livestream.

I'm still stuck. If I try to load into WMP I get those messages about upgrading to version 9, when I already have 10, and telling me I haven't got some codecs whatever they are.

If I load it into Real Player, I can get the site, but only the same as if I get it directly - only in the pass-the-magnifying-glass or I-think-I've-had-a-drop-too-much blurry sizes. I don't normally have a problem resizing in Real Player.

I give up. I'll watch blurry.

best thing to do is lower your screen resolution thats what i've done then it's very watchable everthing else is big but i don't care tbh.

FYI I have lowered my screen resolution from 1280x1024 to 1024x768

Hope this helps,

Eddie

They are down for another 4 p.m. start (british summer time) on the same court, no doubt with almost no atmosphere to start with, and an audience that builds up slowly while the match progresses; hardly ideal conditions for Murray. Let's hope Andy gets his act together a lot quicker second time around. Even in such a horrible display, there were enough signs to suggest that he has a decent chance but he really needs to put Davydenko under pressure by dominating the points. He has to return serve more forcefully, and the initial groundstroke after the serve needs to be aggressive so he can take control of the rally. If he's going to draw Davydenko into the net he needs to keep the ball much lower than he has so far, otherwise it is just too easy to strike a winner crosscourt.

Having built up so much momentum over the summer and then played superbly to beat Gonzalez, it was a real surprise to see Andy play as poorly as he had done in Indian Wells when the relationship with Mark Petchey was disintegrating and he was confused about how to employ his weapons on the court.

The margin for error is very small but a five set victory is still possible now that the fitness side is less of a factor. He should have learnt a lot from the three sets played; now it has to be put into action.

D serve.

0-15, excellent defence from A draws the error.
0-30, 2nd, ue from D.
2nd, 15-30, ue from A who nets a BH.
D challenges out call on what would have been a clean winner. poo he was right by a mm. 30-30
40-30, return out.
2nd, game D, Andy nets, he's annoyed with himself for that, snatches the towel.

A serve

0-15, BH DTL from D, Andy's shot not his. grr.
15-15 ace
point replay, not quite sure why but something distracted them, interfered?
15-30, Andy nets but that was D's fault it was an excellent defensive cross court slice.~
2nd 30-30, D goes long.
30-40, A was in total control, but D read very well and got the passing winner.
GAME DF, Andy went for an ace down the T and missed.

at the moment, Andy is playing better than yesterday but D is just better, yesterday it was Andy self destructing, today you can see why D's return game is said to be the best in the world.

Already a break down, losing serve again in what could be the final set with a double fault.  Very poor.  It's really difficult to see Murray coming back now.

I've always thought he's underated -(That's why I bet 450ams on him !!). I was surprised to see Andy was favourite for this match, and the various 'Andy will blast him off the court' staements' . He's a great returner - and always likely to to make life very hard for an inconsistent server with a weak 2nd serve (step forward Andy). Got a very solid and reliable serve himself, and is capable of making very few UE's.

D serve at 3-0 fourth set. Andy really needs to break now.

15-0, return into the net.
2nd 15-15, D nets.
30-15 Unreturnable (UR from now on)
2nd 30-30, ue from D who nets.
2nd 30-40, D nets, that was forced by A placing the ball near his feet.
deuce, best rally of the match so far (that I've seen) D hits a DTL winner.
ad AM WOW return winner, that was beatiful!
deuce, A hits a ball out, didn't see screen froze.
ad D, A hits out again.
GAME, D forces A to go long.

the rallies are all really long because both players are reading the ball so well they know exactly where it's going next, it's really good tennis to watch but frustrating that D is coming out best, A needs to hit his groundstrokes a little deeper at the moment so he can set up the winner.

A serve.

2nd 0-15, A goes wide
2nd 15-15, A goes deep and D nets in reply
15-30, another long rally this time A makes a ue going for too much on the winner, it was the right shot to play though.
2nd 30-30, D misses a very easy overhead. I think the sun may have been in his eyes there, can't see why else he'd miss that.
2nd 30-40, A goes long.
deuce, good first serve and D sends the return long.
ad AM, another good first serve and this time D goes wide.
2nd, deuce BH DTL from D.
2nd ad D, A goes long on the cross court winner again. Told himself he 'can't do anything. the whole match'
deuce, good serve volley winner combination. 'Come on'
ad D, went long again.
GAME, A's cross court BH went to the bottom of the net.

At the moment, A's just not winning the rallies at all, it's partly ues and short groundstrokes from him but it's also D just playing really really well.
