Do you know why the serve changed so dramatically? Did he change the serve action to try and up the percentage or something? If so why didn't he just change back (that may be a stupid comment I don't play tennis so don't know how easy/difficult it is to change something like that).
ad Murray! come on break. (and then HOLD)
During the off-season after 2005, Andy worked a lot on his serve with Petchey. They decided to take the pace off the 1st serve to try and up and percentage. Unfortunately that proved disastrous and it resulted in Andy's serve still being at a low percentage but without the pace when it did go in. From watching Andy play, I believe the problem lies with his ball toss. Hopefully Brad can sort this out.
Andy's serve has clicked on rare occasions this year - San Jose and Wimbledon but apart from that he hasn't really reached the heights of 2005 pace-wise. However, to counter-balance this, one thing he has been doing especially well since Queens, is that he's been placing his serves much, much better.
Gonzo serving at 1-1 in the second set. 15-0. Murray does well to stay in the point after a couple of deflections off the net but can't quite pill off the lob. 30-0. Forehand goes wide. 40-0 Attempted lob is narrowly long 40-15. A nice drop shot from Gonzo and Murray does brilliantly to get to it and lob gonzalez, falling plumb on the line. GAME. Unreturturnable serve.

Although I remember the commentator saying during the Federer match that Andy takes down the speed on purpose to gain accuracy at the moment - those were his easiest points against Federer, it apparently worked every time... but I agree, he has to get the accuracy he's got on the lower speeds also in the upper speeds, so that he can use the slowing down as weapon of choice rather than of need.
I agree, since Wimbledon his serve has been placed much better - particularly his topspin 2nd serve which makes it a lot harder to attack. I've even seen him hit a few sliced serves aswell.
Last year his serve was in the upper 120s regularly though. He averaged about 126 for a match. I'm amazed that Gonzo's 1st serve average is so low, maybe he's been tensing up. Stefanki said that they've been working a lot on his serve.
