Murray v. Gasquet

This one should be quite an interesting match up if both players are on form.

I just hope Andy is able to recover and isn't too tired(and that he can get a few first serves in!).

If a moderater wishes to jazz up the poll options feel free to edit my post.

I went for Gasquet in three - but I think it could be a cracking match if Andy can keep in form. He'll be tired, but I think he'll give a good account of himself.

The pundits favour Gasquet.  Whatever the outcome Andy has done very well to get so far in a Masters.

11pm BST start  Ouch!  *LOL*

Sorry the pundits have it wrong.....Andy has to start serving well and if he can and continue to return as well as he has then it is Andy in the final

With you there Drew, it's an Andy win.. straight sets, no wobbly tie break...if his first serve % gets to 52% or more, if not then it's 3 long sets.

I'd admit I've been a fan of Gasquet myself for a year or 2 now since I saw him on Smash Court Tennis Pro 2 on the PS2 and looked up on him and is one of my fave players. But since Andy is Scottish and all I want Andy to win and as said if he get his first serve to 50%+ then he'll no doubt have a very good chance of winning this in straight sets and maybe hopefully Gasquet has one of those off days but with the form he's currently in I doubt it. This is a match I've been really looking forward to the other being Murray against Nadal.

So I'm going to be hopeful and go for Andy in 3.

Plus for if you didn't know already Andy has Tim in the 1st round of Cincinatti next week with a possible round 2 match with the Fed Express.

Not sure where you got that from, Tim, the OOP has the match at 1pm Toronto so 6pm again here.

Hmm. I'm supposed to be out. Must think up an excuse. . .

I can't help suspecting Andy will have run out of steam, he has had a hard two weeks and not much rest at all since Queens. I too have wanted him to meet Gasquet, but would have preferred it to be on a more level playing field. I don't think he will win, but I would love to be proved wrong!

Regarding the serving out of matches andy said:

"I've never had a problem until this week, so I don't view it as a problem really," Murray insisted.

"It's just one of those things where it gets into your head, but I'm sure it won't happen again next week."

-----------

Lets hope A) he's right and B) He gets the chance to show he is right.

Andy in two sets for me - he'll be pumped up and i think even if he is a litle bit tired he'll get through it on purely adrenalin....come on...

Hmmmm...i think its going to be a difficult match for both players, andy in his 1st semi final of a masters series and gasquet coming into form at the right time. Watched andy's interview and he said him and richard are up and coming pros with potential and he believes that its going to be an interesting match even though gasquest got the experience of playing in master series semis and finals.

However, i think both players will be nervous and excited at the same time. Gasquet probably feel relieved that his season is ok now after a horrid start at the beginning of the year, but his match yesterday wasn't a good match even though he didnt serve well, but it was berdych who let himself down and couldnt keep the momentum going after  his win over nadal.

So i think with andy's return being one of the top 5, he probably edge it. also think that either player will start off slowly and will run away really quickly.

So its the featured semi starting at 1pm (6pm BST) so will be here at least to follow Andy into his first MS final.....this is where Brad Gilbert comes into his own with Andy with the wealth of experience Brads has will be invaluable to Andy....he must be calm with confidence that again he has beaten two top 20 players to get here.....Gasguet is a very good player....ok Berdych was awful in the last round but still it will be tight with Andy winning in 3. He will loose a 2nd set TB again....before taking the third is style !!!!

Get real yourself, if you know anything about the young you should know that when they are growing they do a lot of sleeping, it's tiring on the body you know, and belive it or not Andy is still growing... no wonder he's tired given his work rate since Queens.

P.S. this could in some way be a factor in Andys serve stat's I feel that when he stops gaining height, this will help steady his serve...
